2023 AFL Round 17 Expert Tips
Thursday July 6th

First up in Round 17 is a Thursday night battle between Richmond and Sydney at the MCG. The Tigers are coming off an embarrassing defeat against the Lions, while the Swans would also be disappointed with the outcome of their recent match. This sets up a do-or-die situation that should be terrific to watch.
Friday July 7th

The Bulldogs are starting to build some momentum with two wins on the trot, but now face the toughest test in football when they take on the ladder-leading Magpies on Friday night. Can they cause an upset under the roof?
Saturday July 8th

The Eagles bounced back from their humiliating 171-point loss against the Swans with a strong performance when almost defeating the Saints last weekend. Will they be competitive against the Lions this Saturday, or will we see another bloodbath?

The Giants recorded their best win of the season last weekend when upsetting the Demons at their home away from home. However, inconsistency has plagued the Orange Tsunami this season, so all eyes will be on their performance in their Saturday afternoon battle with the Hawks.

The Saints would’ve breathed a sigh of relief after the final siren of their Round 16 clash against the Eagles. They almost lost the unlosable, but somehow came away with the four points. They’ll need to be much better this weekend if they’re to be competitive against a Demons side who will be desperate to get back onto the winners list.

Just when we all thought the Power’s season couldn’t get any more magical… it did. A kick after the siren from beyond 50 in Round 16 saw the Power record their 12th straight win. Will they continue their winning ways when they host the under-fire Suns this weekend?
Sunday July 9th

The Cats were fortunate to come away with two points against the Swans last weekend, but get a much easier matchup this Sunday when they host the lowly Kangaroos. Surely the Cats secure an important win in this one.

The Bombers would be shattered with how they lost in Round 16, but the promising signs are still there. They now take on the Crows who are an improving side themselves. This should be one of the best fixtures of the weekend and the clear highlight on Sunday’s slate.

The Dockers have had a poor month of footy and their finals hopes are now hanging by a thread. In contrast, the Blues have found two strong wins in a row and will head to Perth full of confidence. It’s a great do-or-die fixture to cap off what should be another excellent round of footy.
