Randwick hosts 10 races on Saturday, headlined by the rich $10 million Golden Eagle. Unbeaten mare Autumn Glow will have to repel Japanese visitor Panja Tower in the main event on the program.
The Russell Balding Stakes is stacked with talent, and the Group 3 Rosehill Gold Cup offers plenty of support to the big day of racing.
Rail will be in the true position, and the track is currently rated a Soft 5 – the weather is expected to be partly cloudy with some morning showers.
Trent Orwin has done the form to bring you his best bets for day from Randwick, with odds thanks to Palmerbet. And if you’re after more free tips for this weekend’s key meetings, then head over to our Racing Tips page!

Randwick Racing Tips: Saturday, November 1st 2025
Race 1: Asahi Super Dry Handicap (1500m) – 12:10pm (AEDT)
(3) Rotagilla looked a tragedy beaten at Warwick Farm when held up most of the way up the home straight. That was the Chris Waller-trained four-year-old gelding’s first run for the preparation and he can atone for that unlucky fourth placing. Should prove hard to beat in the opening race.
(5) Chicama is a three-year-old colt who broke his maiden at Warwick Farm last time out. He will take confidence from that win and despite jumping up quickly in grade, should be competitive in this line up.
(4) Strawberry Impact has been very consistent this campaign with a pair of seconds followed by a fourth. Looks to map favourably and is another that can win the opener.
(3) Rotagilla WIN
$4.20 (1.5 units)

Race 2: TAB Highway Handicap (1400m) – 12:45pm (AEDT)
(5) Lambay is second up and gets the services of Joao Moreira, nicknamed The Magic Man. Was third at his first-up run and could run well here. This race is extremely open and I won’t be touching it.
(15) Fan Harder is currently the race favourite around the $6.50 mark which shows how difficult this Highway Handicap is. Hasn’t been far away in these races recently and could certainly take it out.
(8) Concoction has won his last two starts and makes his way to tough. Will be interesting to see how he performs in the city at his first attempt.
TIP: No Bet

Race 3: Precise Air Handicap (1300m) – 1:20pm (AEDT)
(4) Jellicious has won all three starts this preparation since joining Chris Waller from Ciaron Maher. The last two of those wins coming in Benchmark 72 Handicaps for the fillies and mares. Draws the widest gate in the field of 10 but had won from barrier 11 two back when James McDonald rode the four-year-old mare. She should be booming home again in this race and hopefully she runs straight over the top of them.
(8) Transcend is lightly raced with three starts producing two wins in New Zealand. The three-year-old filly carries just 54kg for her Australian debut and any cut in the ground will benefit her chances. Keen to see how she runs.
(3) Editing could only manage fifth in this class at Warwick Farm but strips fitter now and has small each-way claims in the race.
(4) Jellicious WIN
$3.30 (1.5 units)

Race 4: Four Pillars Midway (1500m) – 2:00pm (AEDT)
(15) Piraeus gets the nod here at odds. He is second up from a break, performs much better second up compared to fresh, and looked to have something to offer last start. Draws okay in barrier nine with Joao Moreira on board, riding for the Freedman stable. Hopefully doesn’t settle too far back.
(1) Meridiana carries the number one saddle cloth and will carry 59.5kg with the 3kg claim from William Stanley. She is a last start winner and has plenty of class in this line up – three starts ago she was placed in the Listed Princess Stakes (1600m). Deserved favourite for the race.
(10) Vetwelve is very deep into a preparation and has been a model of consistency with two wins and five minor placings during that time. Mitch Stapleford retains the ride and the 3kg claim sees the four-year-old gelding carry 58kg.
(15) Piraeus E/W
$14/$4.20 (1 unit)

Race 5: Toyota Forklifts Handicap (2000m) – 2:40pm (AEDT)
(12) United Kingdom won well at Rosehill over 1800m and has his first look at Randwick. It was impressive watching him sit second last in that race and sweep down the outside of the track to draw away late. There’s no reason the 2000m won’t be right up his alley based on the victory and he should sit back and look to pounce late.
(2) Sun God is the stablemate, another from Chris Waller’s stable, and a last start winner with Anna Roper in the saddle. That was over the mile at Warwick Farm, but this horse has won over the 2000m and will have no issue seeing out the distance. Yet to place from three tries when second up is the knock on him.
(4) Majorian is a five-year-old gelding, that is also another last start winner. It won’t be hard to spot this horse in the run as jockey Chad Schofield will be wearing rainbow silks. Majorian is a massive price and happy to have something small on the gelding.
Also backing: (4) Majorian WIN $16 (0.5 units)
(12) United Kingdom WIN
$3.70 (1.5 units)

Race 6: Bisley Workwear Sprint (1100m) – 3:20pm (AEDT)
(8) Istolea Merc has won four from eight career starts for trainer Bjorn Baker. Following a dominant victory at Warwick Farm when resuming, the five-year-old gelding now gets the services of James McDonald which looks a big tick. Barrier seven looks fine too as it gives McDonald plenty of options. Should be charging home and clearly the one to beat.
(1) Brave One finished last preparation with back-to-back wins at Randwick and Rosehill Gardens. Has been given a nice barrier trial – biggest query for the Hawkes runner is the 61.5kg. Even with the weight, may still prove hard to hold out.
(7) Confess Our Dreams draws wide on the track for trainer Brad Widdup who has Jedibeel in the Russell Balding Stakes. This five-year-old mare began her career winning races quickly but hasn’t saluted since last year. Her recent fifth was okay and she could surprise with the right run in transit.
(8) Istolea Merc WIN
$2.20 (2 units)

Race 7: Russell Balding Stakes (1300m) – 4:00pm (AEDT)
(2) Jimmysstar was exceptional finishing third behind Ka Ying Rising in The Everest when ridden very positively by jockey Ethan Brown – against the six-year-old gelding’s recent racing pattern. Not sure what Brown will do from barrier four, but Ciaron Maher’s gelding is versatile, and they will know he is in the race. The Group 1 All Aged Stakes winner from the autumn deserves a win this campaign.
(1) Briasa can be forgiven for The Everest run and maps much better in this $3 million feature. Two starts back he defeated Jimmysstar in the Group 2 Premiere Stakes (1200m) and has won three from three over 1300m. Looks a strong chance.
(12) Lady Shenandoah also comes out of The Everest where she finished seventh. She was luckless in the run and regular jockey James McDonald reunites with the four-year-old. She is another with strong claims.
(2) Jimmysstar WIN
$2.70 (2 units)

Race 8: Golden Eagle (1500m) – 4:45pm (AEDT)
(12) Panja Tower hails from Japan and trainer Shinsuke Hashiguchi has been set for the race. The four-year-old entire had a career-defining victory in the NHK Mile Cup (1600m) back in May. He then won the Keeneland Cup (1200m) in August. This is a horse that thrives when fresh and we can’t forget Japanese horse Obamburumai who won the 2023 Golden Eagle. If Panja Tower handles the track, his class is going to take him a very long way.
(14) Autumn Glow is unbeaten from seven career starts and the last start Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m) winner is primed for win number eight. This is her biggest test, and it will be great to see if she can rise to the occasion again and stamp herself as one of the best horses in Australia. Looks too short to back.
(3) Linebacker had Ka Ying Rising trial form and that turned out to be exceptional as he belted them in the Group 3 Silver Eagle (1300m). Looks a major player and good enough to win here.
(12) Panja Tower WIN
$8.00 (1 unit)

Race 9: Rosehill Gold Cup (2000m) – 5:20pm (AEDT)
(4) Maison Louis has two runs under the belt this time in, and the Group 1 Queensland Derby (2400m) winner was a good run in the Group 2 Hill Stakes (1900m) when third to Lindermann. Barrier two looks great and should get a nice run throughout. Goes on top.
(6) Wootton Verni captured the Group 3 Coongy Cup (2000m) at Caulfield and loves this trip – winning three from four attempts. Barrier four and James McDonald suit and should get a lovely run. Clearly the main danger to Maison Louis.
(10) Imperialist headed out to Taree to capture the Gold Cup (2000m) at his previous run. He was fifth behind Maison Louis in the Queensland Derby and is ticking along nicely for this target. Has won twice from three tries over the distance. Each-way claims in the race.
(4) Maison Louis WIN
$4.20 (1.5 units)

Race 10: TAB Handicap (1300m) – 5:55pm (AEDT)
A capacity field of 15 runners for this TAB Handicap and it’s not a race that I’m keen to get involved in. If forced to pick something, I would have to go with (2) Emirate but it is extremely low confidence, so would rather just sit back and enjoy the final race on a great program of racing.
