Adelaide United vs Melbourne City (Thursday, January 12th at 7.50pm AEST)
Melbourne City returned to their winning ways last week against Western Sydney Wanderers, but it was far from convincing. It was a stunning volley from Ivan Franjic who earned the three points for the side and they need to receive credit for keeping their opposition scoreless despite playing with 10-men for over an hour. It would give the defence of the side a lot of confidence as they have struggled in that area this season.
Meanwhile Adelaide United still can’t get their season back on track. They are stranded on the bottom of the table and they suffered another loss on the weekend. The Reds have only scored 10 goals this year and they shouldn’t trouble City too much, meanwhile this is a great chance for City to improve their for and against.

Melbourne Victory vs Brisbane Roar (Friday, January 13th at 7.50pm AEST)
The resurgence of the Victory side during the 2016-17 A-Lecontinued as they earned a comfortable 2-0 victory over the bottom placed Reds. It wasn’t a dominant display but they did enough to cruise to victory. They will need to lift their game this weekend as they take on the fourth placed Brisbane Roar side.
The Roar have flown under the radar this season and have struggled at different stages. They seem to find a way to earn the victory against the struggling sides but it is a different story when they face a contender. It will be a tough task for them to earn competition points on the road against an inform Victory side.
The Victory have scored 32 goals this season and we are predicting them to create a lot of opportunities this weekend. They have won nine of their 13 goals and we believe they will hold their own at home.

Wellington Phoenix vs Central Coast Mariners (Saturday, January 14th at 5.35pm AEST)
The Phoenix and Mariners are in a battle near the bottom of the A-League table as neither side can find any consistency. Central Coast weren’t expected to do much this season but Phoenix had a lot of expectations on their shoulders, especially in attack. They haven’t lived up to that, however they have put together two strong performances against their opponents this weekend.
The Phoenix have three wins to their name and two of those came against the Mariners. We believe a side that was expected to have one of the best attacks in the league, to score a lot of goals this weekend against a struggling side.

Sydney FC vs Western Sydney Wanderers (Saturday, January 14th at 7.50pm AEST)
Remarkably the Sky Blues still remain undefeated but they did suffer a scare against the Mariners on the weekend. They took a 2-0 lead early in the second half and they took their foot off the pedal and the door opened for the home side. The Mariners grabbed two quick goals, however Sydney FC immediately struck back and earned a 3-2 win. The side has been dealt a blow though with Seb Ryall suffering an injury. It leaves a huge hole in the defence and whether they can maintain their great run of only allowing seven league goals in 14 games, without Ryall at the back remains to be seen.
The Wanderers are coming off a loss against City and it saw them drop out of a finals spot. It would be crushing the club and their fans to see the Sky Blues dominating while they continue to struggle. The side only has two wins this season but they have managed to split the points on eight occasions. However, we can’t see them competing with the Sky Blues who are coming off a scare which would have woken the side up and switched them on for the Sydney derby.

Newcastle Jets vs Perth Glory (Sunday, January 15th at 5pm AEST)
In the final game of the round, the Newcastle Jets will be looking to leap frog the Glory on the ladder. The Jets are continuing to impress this season and their latest 3-2 victory on the road against the Roar is arguably their best result. They have gone above and beyond their expectations already but the side is showing no signs of slowing down. They could have easily defeated the Victory two weeks ago but a couple of calls went against the side.
The Glory is arguably the most inconsistent team in the league and are one of the hardest sides to predict. They have caused upsets while they have lost matches they should have won. We are predicting the latter side to turn up this weekend as they travel to Newcastle. It is always a tough road trip for the Perth side and they have proved to struggled on the road this year.
