St Kilda vs Western Bulldogs Predictions & Tips: 2025 AFL Round 14
Beware the Wounded Dogs
Thursday night footy looks to be an intriguing contest between two teams keen to shrug off the image of “battlers” and become genuine contenders of the competition.
The Dogs are certainly closer in that regard as they have been regular finals contenders this decade under the wing of Luke Beveridge. However every time we think they are the real deal, they slip up. Last week’s loss to the Hawks was typical of that. It was a game where they were favourites against a fellow premiership contender, but the loss has sent the Dogs back down to 9th place and a 6-6 record. It's back into battler territory. Another loss here and they are suddenly on the wrong side of the ledger and their place in the finals will be under threat.
Sinners or Saints?
In fact a win for the Saints here will see both sides sitting on the same 6-7 record for season 2025. That seems hard to imagine given the Saints have had plenty of problems on and off the field. The inconsistency of the Saints has been frustrating, and while the defensive game plan of Ross Lyon is often hard to watch, they have produced a few upset results that give hope for their fans. A stirring win over Geelong early in the season, and a fantastic squeeze of Fremantle were highlights this year, but that was mixed in with a horrible loss to the Eagles in their only win of the season. What version of the Saints will turn up tonight?
Stats That Matter
These two teams met in Round 6 earlier this season and it was a punishing 71 point win to the Bulldogs. That's been the trend of the Bulldogs this season. While they are 1-6 against teams in the Top 8 this season, they are a perfect 5-0 against those in the bottom half with an average winning margin of 55 points. The Bulldogs have covered the line against the Saints in four of their last five meetings which points to a comfortable Bulldogs victory.
The Saints might rue their unlucky timing as superstar Marcus Bontempelli returned from injury against them in Round 6 and dominated. This time around we could see rising star Sam Darcy return to face the Saints after sustaining a fractured knee in the corresponding match earlier in the year.
James Harmes has suffered a delayed concussion after the match with the Hawks, so he’ll be ruled out while Jason Johannisen remains absent due to a recent illness that saw him bedridden for a week.
The Saints will lose Matteas Phillipou through injury, but it’s not all bad news for the Saints with Jack Macrae and Liam Stocker passing fitness tests and available for selection.
So who wins? Here's our Saints vs Bulldogs Tip
This is a huge game for the Bulldogs. All the talk was how they’d been pretty good all season and a potential premiership contender, but they failed a major test last week which has left them on the brink. The Dogs will want a win here and some momentum to climb back up the ladder and get themselves into a position where they can be dangerous in September. Anything less is a failure of a season.

Saints vs Bulldogs Prop Bet: Let's Play Dale Ball
Our Best Player Prop Bet: Bailey Dale to Have 30+ Disposals
Western Bulldogs half-back Bailey Dale loves playing under the roof at Marvel Stadium. He’s consistently hitting the 30-disposal mark when he plays there and his season was highlighted by a club record of 49 disposals against Essendon in Round 11.
The Saints have historically pushed back into their own defensive half to give up cheap disposals to the opposition defenders, which plays well into the hands of Dale to get plenty of kick-ins and link ups from his teammates.

Saints vs Bulldogs Same Game Multi
We’re keen on the Bulldogs to win and win well, so we’ll take them with a little handicap. We’ve already mentioned Bailey Dale’s love of Marvel Stadium and this looks a great matchup for him to hit 25 disposals which he’s achieved in four of his last five matches.
To finish off the same game multi, we’re backing the #1 rated player in the competition at the moment, Ed Richards. We’ll back Richards to also get 25 disposals which is a mark he’s only narrowly missed in three games this season. He’s also always pushing forward to make an impact on the scoreboard, with at least one goal in his last seven matches.
