Rabbitohs vs Dolphins Preview & Betting Tips: NRL Round 11 2026

May 14th 2026, 3:37pm, By: Ben Bridge

Rabbitohs vs Dolphins Betting Tips

Friday Night Football in Magic Round gives us a fascinating night cap at Suncorp Stadium, as the Rabbitohs face the Dolphins in a matchup where the market appears to be leaning slightly too far toward recent results. The Dolphins have enough attacking strike to trouble anyone, but South Sydney arrive off a dominant win over Cronulla, and the return of Latrell Mitchell only strengthens their case. With Latrell named to return, Souths suddenly look far more dangerous through the middle to edge connection, and that matters in a game I price close to a pick’em.

From a betting perspective, this is exactly the sort of spot where I want to take the plus-money side. I make this game close to even, and if the Rabbitohs are available as outsiders with Latrell back on deck, which is good enough for me. The Dolphins can absolutely win, particularly if they turn this into a fast Suncorp-style shootout, but I don’t trust them enough defensively to be laying a price against a South Sydney attack that just put 36 on the Sharks without their most influential attacking player.

Let's break it all down!

Rabbitohs vs Dolphins Prediction & Tips: 2026 NRL Round 11

Rabbitohs Coming Off Statement Win Over Sharks

South Sydney’s 36-12 win over Cronulla last week was easily one of their most encouraging performances of the season, and it came at the perfect time heading into Magic Round. The Rabbitohs have been difficult to trust through the opening months, largely because their best attacking patches have often been undermined by poor defensive periods, but this was a far more complete performance.

What stood out most was the control. Rather than relying purely on broken field moments or late game chaos, South Sydney were able to build pressure, win the territory battle for long stretches, and force the Sharks into uncomfortable defensive sequences. That has not always been their profile this season, so seeing them match attacking threat with improved defensive resilience was important.

The spine looked far more composed, with Cody Walker controlling the tempo and Jye Gray adding speed and support through the middle. Despite no Alex Johnston this week, the Rabbitohs’ left edge attack can punish defensive hesitation quickly, no matter the winger. When Souths get quick play the balls and Walker is able to play square to the line, they are still one of the more dangerous attacking teams in the competition.

The biggest positive, however, was the defence. Holding Cronulla to 12 points is no small thing given the Sharks’ attacking output this season. Souths were more connected on the edges, more aggressive in contact, and far more patient without the ball.

Now they add Latrell Mitchell back into the side. That gives the Rabbitohs even more strike and makes them a live underdog in this matchup.

Dolphins Looking for Third Straight Win

The Dolphins’ 40-12 win over the Bulldogs last week was one of their more complete performances of the season, and it showed exactly why the market continues to respect them when they get momentum. Jamayne Isaako was the headline act with a hat-trick and points haul totalling 24 points, while the Dolphins again showed how dangerous they can be when their outside backs are getting clean ball, and their ruck speed is rolling.

The most encouraging part was the way the Dolphins put the game away. They trailed early, but once the match turned, they scored in bunches and completely overwhelmed Canterbury. That type of scoring power is why they are dangerous in a neutral style Magic Round environment. Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, Isaako, Jack Bostock and Herbie Farnworth give them genuine strike across the backline, and when Isaiya Katoa is getting front foot ball, the Dolphins can create points quickly.

That said, the win needs to be kept in context. Canterbury have been sliding, and while the Dolphins deserve full credit for taking advantage, this is not suddenly an elite defensive side. Their best performances still tend to come when they win the scoreboard battle rather than when they shut teams down.

That matters against South Sydney. The Rabbitohs are coming off one of their most disciplined performances of the season and now get Latrell back. If the Dolphins allow Souths to play with the same field position and attacking rhythm they found against Cronulla, this becomes a dangerous matchup for the short priced side.

The Dolphins can win, but they are not a team I want to trust too heavily at a skinny price.

Rabbitohs vs Dolphins Recent History

The most recent meeting between these sides came back in Round 1 this season, when South Sydney beat the Dolphins 40-30 at Suncorp Stadium in a game that set the tone for both teams’ attacking profiles. Last season, the Dolphins produced a huge 50-28 win over South Sydney in Round 17, with Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow scoring four tries and the Dolphins piling on eight tries in total.

Recent results:
2026 Round 1: Rabbitohs def Dolphins 40-30
2025 Round 17: Dolphins def Rabbitohs 50-28
2025 Round 1: Rabbitohs def Dolphins 16-14
2024 Round 19: Dolphins def Rabbitohs 36-28
2023 Round 7: Rabbitohs def Dolphins 36-14

So, a very back and forth set of results since the Dolphins entered the competition in 2023, can the Bunnies become the first team to win successive games in this rivalry?

Rabbitohs Value at Plus Money

This is not a game where I want to get too clever. I make it close to a pick’em, and the Rabbitohs are the plus-money side with Latrell Mitchell returning. That is the bet.

The Dolphins are dangerous, no question. They are coming off a strong win, their attack is humming when they get field position, and Suncorp Stadium suits their style. But this is also Magic Round, not a normal Dolphins home game at Suncorp Stadium, and the setting will be far closer to a neutral venue. The crowd dynamic is different, the week has a different feel, and Souths have enough strike to make this uncomfortable from the opening exchanges.

Latrell’s return is the key. Even if he is not at absolute peak sharpness straight away, he changes how the Dolphins have to defend. He attracts numbers, gives Walker another high-end option, and creates space for the winger to finish. That should help South Sydney avoid the flat, predictable patches that have hurt them at times this season.

The other major factor is last week’s Souths performance. Beating Cronulla 36-12 is not just a nice result; it is evidence that the Rabbitohs can defend with enough discipline to support their attack. That matters enormously here. If Souths were still leaking 30-plus every week, taking them as a small outsider would be uncomfortable. But after holding the Sharks to 12, and now adding Latrell back in, I think the market is underrating their true ceiling.

The Dolphins’ path is obvious: play fast, win the ruck, and turn this into a race. But Souths are not badly suited to that either. They have the outside backs, ballplayers and counter-punching ability to trade points. If anything, the more open the game becomes, the more live the Rabbitohs are as an underdog.

At a fair line, I would probably leave this alone. But with the Bunnies at plus money and my number saying pick’em, I’m happy to take the price. South Sydney are inconsistent, but they are not overmatched here.

Rabbitohs vs Dolphins Player Prop Bet

Herbie has been a little lacklustre this season in the try scoring department, with just four tries in nine games. The Bunnies right edge defence is their weaker side, and I expect the Dolphins to pepper them on that side all night.

Herbie Farnworth (1+ try)

$2.20

Leg 2: H Farnworth (1+ try) – See above best prop bet.

Leg 3: L Mitchell (1+ try) – Will be a good to go this weekend according to reports, and with this being Mitchell’s last chance to prove his fitness before Origin teams are named, expect a big performance.
