2025 NRLW Round 4 Predictions & Tips

New Zealand Warriors vs Gold Coast Titans

Go Media Stadium – Saturday 26th July – 12:45pm (AEST)

The Warriors went on the road and were outplayed by the Knights, defeated 36-20. In a high scoring match, the Warriors were poor defensively allowing 5 line breaks and missing 31 tackles. They also only averaged 7.8m per carry and are capable of better. The Titans were too strong for the Tigers, wearing down their opponents in the second half after trailing 8-6 at HT. Dominating possession (58%), they were better in all areas but will want to improve upon their 68% completion rate moving forward.

The Warriors are favourites for this match and majority of that has to do with the fact that they are returning home. The form of both sides this season has been inconsistent; both have changes this week aimed at improving their chances of winning. Confidence is low so invest sparingly. Given there is little between them, best to invest on this game being a tight contest and seeing what each deliver. The Warriors previous performance at home was impressive and that should be considered in H2H markets.

Sydney Roosters vs Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs

Allianz Stadium – Saturday 26th July – 3:15pm (AEST)

The Roosters made a statement in their 30-26 road victory over the Broncos. With both teams scoring 5 tries, goal kicking was the difference; it would’ve been poor had they given up their 24-10 HT lead. More possession (52%) and a superior completion rate (72%) allowed them to create 7 line breaks. It wasn’t a complete performance though; they missed 46 tackles and allowed 8 line breaks. The Bulldogs were upset by the Dragons at home 18-14, with a final minute try breaking the deadlock. They were poor defensively, missing 46 tackles and allowing 6 line breaks. They were also limited in attack, with their opponents winning all key areas.

This game is the Roosters to lose. It is why they are overwhelming favourites, but the Bulldogs are sure to be up for the challenge. They have the chance to make a statement and the return of prop Teakaraanga-Katoa strengthens them in the middle. This will only take them so far though and given the Roosters Round 2 victory over the Dragons – a team who defeated the Bulldogs last week – the visitors will have to perform well to cause an upset. Nothing appears set to slow down the Roosters try scoring ability and that should be the indication of how to invest in this match.

North Queensland Cowboys vs Canberra Raiders

Queensland Country Bank Stadium – Saturday 26th July – 5:15pm (AEST)

The Cowboys scored an upset 16-14 road victory over the Sharks, a much-needed result after a poor start to the season. Almost conceding a 12-4 HT lead, they were disciplined with the ball (80% completion rate) and superior defensively, missing just 18 tackles and missing 3 line breaks. The Raiders delivered another lacklustre display, defeated 46-12 at home by the Eels. Never in the contest, worrying signs are emerging for them early in the season. A 54% completion rate, allowing 8 line breaks and missing 39 tackles are only the start of them.

After their first 3 performances, there is minimal hope for the Raiders causing an upset victory on the road, let alone in Townsville. The decision in this game comes down to where to find value. Being outscored by an average of 46-10 in the opening 3 rounds, the line (-9.5) doesn’t appear as though it will be large enough. The Raiders are boosted by the return of a few key players (Barnes & Matua) but more will be need from other players. The jury is still out on the Cowboys, so keep your stake low.

Parramatta Eels vs Newcastle Knights

Eric Tweedale Stadium – Sunday 27th July – 12pm (AEST)

The Eels made a statement with a 46-12 road victory over the Raiders. A dominant 8-try display saw them average 9.7m per carry, have 8 line breaks and complete at 84%. While their opponents were poor, they did well to capitalise on their opportunities. The Knights were also good in their 36-20 home victory over the Warriors. Jumping to a 24-6 HT lead, they were at their dominant best controlling possession (53%) and having a high completion rate (87%). They will still want to improve defensively though, with some tries proving easier than they should.

The Eels are outsiders in this fixture and with neither team changed from last week, perhaps they should be closer. Both were strong and while the opponents the Eels faced was of poorer quality, they won in impressive fashion. The line is too short (-2.5) to invest on any team with confidence, so the safer option is to take this game to be a close contest, with either team prevailing, and using this to anchor a multi.

St George-Illawarra Dragons vs Brisbane Broncos

WIN Stadium – Sunday 27th July – 1:45pm (AEST)

The Dragons scored an upset 18-14 victory over the Bulldogs courtesy of a try in the dying stages of the contest. In a gritty and determined performance, the Dragons established a platform for victory via dominating possession (52%) and completing well (81%). They lead all other key areas, including missing just 29 tackles while making 6 line breaks. The Broncos were upset at home by the Roosters 30-26, punished for a poor first half which saw them trail 24-10 at HT. They were their own worst enemy with a 64% completion rate and conceding 7 line breaks. The Broncos are capable of better.

Despite a spirited victory last, the Dragons will find it challenging to win this match. The Broncos are a team of similar quality to the Roosters, who defeated the Dragons in Round 2. This is why the Broncos are overwhelming favourites. They will also be out to bounce back from their loss last week and possess the quality to do so; they are boosted by the return of Clark to the pack. Given their point scoring ability, once they get moving, the Broncos will be a difficult team to stop. This should mean that they cover the line.

Broncos -9.5

Cronulla Sharks vs Wests Tigers

Sharks Stadium – Sunday 27th July – 6:15pm (AEST)

The Sharks took a step backwards last week with an upset 16-14 loss at home to the Cowboys. They were poor in the first half and trailed 12-4 at HT. While they were improved in the second half, they were still unable to build pressure when it mattered most. Their defence was poor allowing 6 line breaks and missing 29 tackles. The Tigers were defeated 24-12 by the Titans at home, giving up an 8-6 HT lead. Having just 42% possession and completing at only 73% hurt their chances, as did missing 36 tackles.

There isn’t too much to get excited about in this game for the Tigers. While they are improving and can be gritty in matches, it will take a consistent performance over 70 minutes to defeat their opponents here. The Sharks have had their own issues with consistency this season and are no certainty to win this match. Therefore, the large line on offer is worth considering, albeit, with a careful stake used. If anything, it is a game worth staying away from altogether.
