PGA Tour Cadillac Championship Betting Tips
Traump National Doral, Thursday 30 April - Sunday 3 May
The Field
Scottie Scheffler enters as the world No. 1 and once again the man everyone is chasing. After a slow start by his standards, he has quickly rediscovered his best form with consecutive runner-up finishes and remains the benchmark in elite-field events.
Collin Morikawa continues to churn out top finishes with machine-like consistency, bringing five straight top-10s into the week excluding his withdrawal at THE PLAYERS. Cameron Young also arrives flying, with three top-three finishes in his last four starts and his game looking more complete than ever.
The field also features plenty of experienced Doral performers, including former winners Adam Scott and Justin Rose, while a host of emerging stars like Chris Gotterup and Jake Knapp continue trying to prove they belong among the PGA TOUR elite.
The Course
Trump National Doral’s Blue Monster is one of the sternest tests in professional golf, stretching to a monstrous 7,739 yards and demanding power, precision and patience in equal measure. It has long been one of the TOUR’s most feared layouts and remains every bit as punishing.
Originally designed in 1962 and modernised by Gil Hanse in 2014, the course features water hazards on numerous holes, narrow landing areas and enough wind exposure to ruin a card in about seven minutes if things go sideways.
This is not a venue where players can fake it. Long iron play, elite ball striking and mental discipline are essential, and historically the best players tend to separate themselves quickly here.
Top Picks
Knapp continues to pile up results, with five top-10 finishes already this season and elite scoring numbers across the board. He is knocking loudly on the door of a breakthrough and has the firepower to contend here.
Despite managing an ongoing back issue and plenty happening off the course, Morikawa keeps producing. He has gone T7 and T4 since the Masters, and his precision-first game should translate beautifully to the Blue Monster.
Value Picks
Rested since another strong showing at Augusta, Hideki arrives fresh and dangerous. His elite tee-to-green game is a perfect match for a demanding layout like Doral, and with his putter currently running hotter than usual, the upside is obvious.
More likely a place chance than an outright winner, but English has strong course history here after a T10 in 2016 and comes in off a season-best T4 at the RBC Heritage. If the putter stays warm, he can outperform his odds again.
