Royal Randwick Racing Tips: Saturday, December 27th 2025
Race 5: Petaluma BM72 1100m - 2:55pm (AEDT)
(3) Petticoat: Well-credentialed 4YO mare who rates strongly in this lineup. Has been excellent in the Highway races previously, recording two wins and a second, which reads very well coming into this. The 2kg claim is a definite plus, she thrives on soft ground, and her record at this track is outstanding with two wins from two starts. Maps to enjoy a soft, economical run and while the favourite sets the standard, she represents genuine value at the price and is a mare we’re happy to side with.
(12) Ice Kool: Talented 3YO who made a statement on debut, scoring in dominant fashion over 1000m by nearly 4 lengths and stopping the clock just shy of the track record. Clearly has above-average ability and profiles as the one they all have to beat. Short in the market though, and while his talent is respected, happy to let him go at the price.
(3) Petticoat WIN
$5.00 (1 Unit)
Race 6: Schweppes BM78 BM78 1600m - 3:30pm (AEDT)
(1) Walking Painting: Veteran who surprisingly rates very well here at massive odds. His return run was on the flat side, but the step out in trip is a big tick, boasting a strong 50% strike rate over the distance (5 wins from 10 attempts). Gets in well at the weights with Nock claiming 1.5kg and is far better suited on a soft track, which he relishes. His form stacks up nicely, including a second to the talented Half Yours last preparation. Would not shock to see him right in the finish at big odds.
(7) Hurtsville Zagreb: 4YO gelding who has been a touch disappointing in his past two starts over 2000m, particularly given he was been well supported in betting on both occasions. However, the drop back to the mile looks a significant positive. Four runs back when last seen over this trip, he was outstanding, putting them away with plenty in hand. Zac Lloyd regains the ride, which is another tick, and from barrier 7 he maps ideally to roll forward and dictate proceedings to suit. Well placed to bounce back and happy to be on..
(7) Hurtsville Zagreb WIN
$5.00 (1 Unit)
Race 9: Tab BM88 2000m - 5:20pm (AEDT)
(12) Kind Words: We were on board last start and she duly delivered with a well-deserved victory. Stays at 2000m, which clearly suits, and her form prior to that win came against black-type company, adding depth to her profile. The slight query is her record at this track, where she’s been unplaced, along with the soft conditions. Still, she’s racing in good order and commands respect again.
(14) Rotagilla: Impressive winner two runs back over 1800m at Rosehill where he turned the tables on the talented MERIDIANA in dominant fashion. Last start he was far from disgraced, finishing soundly but unable to make ground on the on-speed duo SUN GOD/POCKETING. Steps up to 2000m now, a trip he’s run a solid third at. Draws the pole position and profiles as the map horse, likely to control the race from the front. Returns to a soft track, which suits perfectly (3 wins from 5), loves this circuit, and the booking of Zac Lloyd only adds confidence. Looks to go very well again.
(14) Rotagilla WIN
$2.70 (3 Units)
