Brisbane vs Sydney Prediction & Betting Tips: AFL 2025 Round 22

Lions Chasing Home Final

The premiership chase is heating up and every win matters with sides vying for top four spots on the ladder to ensure a double chance. For Brisbane, they have the chance to land a top two position to play a home qualifying final. Two weeks ago, the Lions got a reality check at the hands of the Gold Coast Suns who thumped Chris Fagan’s men by 66 points. They quickly bounced back with a 27-point win over Collingwood who are on a downward spiral right now. Brisbane have won five of their past six matches and will feel confident heading into this contest despite Lachie Neale missing the rest of the home and away season.

Grand Final Rematch Without Reward for Swans

Sydney’s 2025 campaign will all-but-end without a finals campaign as they have three matches to play. From ladder leader in 2024 and subsequently falling short on the biggest stage against Brisbane, the Swans meet the Lions for the second time this season: they lost by four points in round one. The team still has pride to play for at this stage of the season and winning over the Lions would be a feel-good moment, although without true reward. The Swans have won four of their last five matches with notable wins coming over Fremantle and St Kilda. Last week, they defeated Essendon by 14 points which is hardly anything to brag about.

Recent Stats That Matter

Brisbane have had their way with Sydney in recent encounters, winning the past five clashes, including a thrilling four-point win in Round 1 this year. Josh Dunkley, Dayne Zorko and Jarrod Berry led the way for the Lions. Both Zorko and Dunkley often play well against the Swans, while Errol Gulden has been in form against the Lions. The ruck advantage goes to Sydney with Brodie Grundy playing some of his best footy, averaging 36.5 hitouts per game. The Lions have a distinct contested marking advantage over the Swans, led by superstar defender Harris Andrews who has taken 26 for the season. Brisbane also leads the league in marks at 100.8 per game compared to Sydney’s 89.1.

Who Covers Their Respective Line? Here’s Our Brisbane vs Sydney Tip

The Swans are finding some form late in the season and their ruckman Brodie Grundy is dominating. If he can help the Swans mids secure first ball-use around the contest, which is something coach Dean Cox has stated during the week, then Sydney can keep this contest close and cover the 23.5-point line on offer.

Brisbane vs Sydney Prop Bet, Ashcroft Fantasy Points

Our Best Prop Bet: W. Ashcroft 100+ Fantasy Points

Will Ashcroft is showing what a talent he is capable of with big games against Collingwood (30 disposals) and the Western Bulldogs (26 disposals, 3 goals) in recent matches. Ashcroft is an emerging superstar after just 51 matches, and he could have another 100+ AFL Fantasy Points in this match. The weather forecast suggests light rain, and Ashcroft can rack up the possession count.

Brisbane vs Sydney Same Game Multi

Will Ashcroft 25+ Disposals: Expecting Ashcroft to play a crucial role, even more so with Lachie Neale’s absence.

Dayne Zorko 25+ Disposals: It’s not often Zorko misses out on 25 or more disposals and that has happened twice in a row. He is due to return to his usual style in the back half, setting up Brisbane’s attack from defence.

Errol Gulden 25+ Disposals: Consistently racks up possessions for the Swans, Gulden has had 32 and 30 disposals in his last two matches. Should see plenty of it once again.
