Round 20 of the AFL season wraps up on Sunday afternoon in a battle for pride between St Kilda and Melbourne. While the Sunday scheduling is questionable by the AFL, with two Melbourne-based matches on at the same time, at least the Saints and Dees fans will be comforted by the roof at Marvel Stadium on what looks like a chilly Wintery day in Melbourne.

St Kilda vs Melbourne Prediction & Betting Tips: AFL 2025 Round 20
Two teams that have struggled in season 2025 meet at Marvel Stadium this Sunday to wrap up Round 20 action. In a round that's had plenty of uneven matchups, this actually looks like a very competitive game, despite their position on the AFL ladder. It's a game for pride, but both teams will fancy their chances as they would have expectations of being ahead of the other in their development.
The form for both doesn't make great reading. The Saints have lost nine of their last ten matches, with their only win coming against the Demons in Alice Springs in Round 12. Their 5-13 win-loss record is far below what their fans would've expected for season 2025. However they have been competitive against some of the top teams in recent weeks, so their form isn't as bad as it reads. A win here levels them up with the Demons, and with a favourable run home, the Saints can still salvage something from the season.
The Saints midfield of Jack Steele and Marcus Windhager have been in good form, while Max Hall has shown some good potential, but there's just not enough help in key positions across the field. They sadly lack Max King up forward, while Rowan Marshall is not the same player of a few years ago. Zak Jones has been recalled for his umpeenth farewell match as surely his time is over.
Over at Demonland and their problems are not only on the field but extend off the field as well. Too much is left to Max Gawn who is tirelessly on his way to another All Australian jacket, as well as Kysaiah Pickett who has been amazing in his ability to hit the scoreboard from the midfield. However the likes of Petracca, Oliver and Viney all seem past it, while their backline is in tatters with Jake Lever out injured and Steven May suspended. The Saints don't exactly have a fearsome forward line, but you have to feel that the Dees backline is going to be tested here.
Saints or Dees? Here's our St Kilda vs Melbourne Tip
Both teams are on their knees in season 2025, but the form of the Saints isn't as bad as it reads as they have been competitive recently against some of the top tier teams in the competition. Compare that to Melbourne losing to the Blues last week! Yuck! The Saints also grow a leg at Marvel which makes me lean their way at the underdog price in a close one.

Our Best Player Prop Bet: Callum Wilkie 20+ Disposals
Last time these two teams met, Callum Wilkie feasted with 31 disposals and 15 marks. With Melbourne lacking genuine forward threats, Wilkie was able to peel off to intercept time after time. Surely the Dees have a plan for him this time around, but regardless, the odds for a 20+ disposal game are too good to refuse.

St Kilda vs Melbourne Same Game Multi
We already mentioned that Callum WIlkie had a day out against the Dees last time around, so we'll add him into our Same Game Multi. We'll also include the tackling beast that is Jack Steele who has averaged 14 tackles per game over his last three matches - surely 9+ is a gettable amount for him here! Christian Petracca has kicked multiple goals against the Saints in his last three meetings with them, so we'll include him to hit the scoreboard. Finally, the form of Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera has been the best in the entire competition so 25+ disposals should be a cakewalk!
Callum Wilkie 20+ Disposals
Jack Steele 9+ Tackles
Christian Petracca 1+ Goal
Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera 25+ Disposals
