2026 Brownlow Medal Leaderboard

March 9th 2026, 5:37pm, By: Brownlow Bandit

It's football's most prestigious individual honour - the Brownlow Medal will once again be a hotly-contested award in season 2026 with many of the AFL's superstars set to attract the eye of the umpire's on their way towards football immortality.

With Gold Coast young gun Matt Rowell a surprise winner last season, we'll have to wait and see if the new breed of talent will again rise to the top, or will it be one of the veterans who asserts themselves on the competition to take home "Charlie".

The new breed includes the like of Nick Daicos, Harry Sheezel, Connor Rozee, Noah Anderson, Finn Callaghan. Errol Gulden, Zak Butters, Will Ashcroft and Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera. They are fast, they are skilled and they can rack up huge numbers of possession.

Or will it be one of the veterans who returns to glory in 2026? The likes of Marcus Bontempelli, Christian Petracca, Lachie Neale, Isaac Heeney, Touk Miller and Zach Merrett will once again be in contention at the end of the season as proven vote getters.

One interesting twist in season 2026 is that umpires will be allowed to view stats from the game before they lodge their votes. In the era of digital information, it just makes sense. It should prevent some of the outrageous outliers in vote allocations that we've seen in recent seasons. Some would argue, that's the beauty of the Brownlow though. This new system should in theory make vote predictions a little easier, but we'll have to see if that also means less value for punters.

We'll be providing round-by-round tracking for the 2026 AFL Brownlow Medal with our analysis of every match of every round, highlighting the most likely Brownlow vote getters and vote predictions using our proven Brownlow voting system.

Our Brownlow vote predictions look a little different than the official voting system. This is because we give 6 votes per game, but our votes are split however we determine, with the idea being that over the long term these split votes even out, and we are then given a 'range' of votes to work with for the current season.

There will be situations when the voting is clear-cut and the usual 3-2-1 is awarded, but when two players have both starred in a game and can't be split, 2.5 votes will be given per player. In games with multiple players fighting for the 1 or 2 votes, there will be 0.5 or 1.5 votes given with the same thinking that 'sometimes' those players will be awarded 1 vote, 2 votes or none.

For example: Noah Anderson and Matt Rowell both have 30 disposals, kick a goal and generally have similar impact on the result of a game. It's too hard to read the umpires mind, but we can be certain that these two players will be claiming the 3 and 2 votes. To combat the fact we are sometimes going to get this wrong, both players receive 2.5 votes which gives them a range of 2-3 votes. At the end of the season players like this then have a minimum and maximum range and if everything goes well, should confidently finish somewhere in that range.

We hope this information will help you throughout the season to find value in betting markets with the best Australian sports betting sites, and end the season with plenty of profit!
