The 2026-27 NBA season is underway, and Australian daily fantasy sports fans have another reason to follow the action, with the Draftstars NBA Star tournament offering a pathway from regular fantasy contests to an exclusive final worth a massive $60,000 in prize money!
NBA Star is part of Draftstars' popular Star tournament series, which has previously featured major competitions across the AFL, Big Bash, racing and American sports.
Rather than simply competing for cash prizes in individual daily fantasy contests, players in the NBA Star format aim to win qualifying tournaments and secure a ticket into a special final featuring other successful qualifiers.
How Does Draftstars NBA Star Work?
The NBA Star tournament follows a qualifying format that will be familiar to anyone who has participated in other major Star competitions at Draftstars.
Players enter designated NBA Star qualifying contests and build their fantasy basketball lineups using the available salary cap.
Fantasy points are awarded based on the real-world performances of the selected NBA players, including scoring, rebounds, assists and other statistical contributions.
The objective is to finish at the top of a qualifying contest and earn a ticket into the NBA Star Final.
The format adds another dimension to regular NBA fantasy contests, with players competing not only for the results of an individual slate but also for a place in a larger tournament.
Qualifying for the NBA Star Final
Draftstars has traditionally offered different qualifying opportunities across its Star tournament series, giving players multiple chances to secure a place in the $60,000 NBA Star Final.
Depending on the contest structure, qualifying events may feature different entry fees, field sizes and lineup requirements.
Importantly, winning a qualifying ticket is generally more difficult than simply finishing in the money in a regular DFS contest. Players need to build a lineup capable of outperforming the entire qualifying field.
The specific qualifying schedule, entry limits and final prize structure for the 2026-27 NBA Star should be checked against the current Draftstars promotion terms.
NBA Daily Fantasy Strategy
With so many NBA games taking place throughout the week, daily fantasy basketball offers plenty of opportunities for players who follow team news and individual performances closely.
Injury reports, starting lineups and player rotations can have a significant impact on fantasy scoring.
Finding an undervalued player who receives additional minutes due to a teammate's absence can be just as important as selecting one of the NBA's biggest superstars.
For NBA Star qualifiers, where the emphasis is on finishing first rather than simply recording a respectable score, lineup selection and finding players who outperform expectations can be particularly important.
Play NBA Fantasy at Draftstars
