NBA Betting Tips: Tuesday, October 28th 2025
Boston Celtics at New Orleans Pelicans (11:00am AEDT)
The Boston Celtics (0–3) visit the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans to face the Pelicans (0–2) in a Monday night matchup between two teams desperate for their first win of the young season.
The Celtics' struggles stem largely from the absence of their superstar forward Jayson Tatum, who is out indefinitely with a torn Achilles. Their offence has been sputtering, with the team ranking near the bottom of the league in points per game despite a 41-point effort from Jaylen Brown in their most recent loss. The departures of key veterans like Kristaps Porzingis, Al Horford, and Jrue Holiday have also left their rotation thin and their defence vulnerable.
The Pelicans, though also winless, have been significantly more competitive, suffering two close losses. Their scoring has been efficient, led by a highly engaged Zion Williamson. Through two games, Williamson is averaging 27.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 6.0 assists and has been an absolute force, dominating the paint and getting to the free-throw line consistently. His combination of scoring and playmaking has been keeping
The Celtics will be without Jayson Tatum, and the Pelicans have Kevon Looney (knee) and Dejounte Murray (Achilles) sidelined, with forward Karlo Matkovic (back) and Yves Missi (ankle) questionable. The depleted Celtics frontcourt rotation will struggle immensely with Williamson's unique combination of size and burst.
Given the Celtics' injury woes, off-season departures, and subsequent defensive issues, the Pelicans have a major advantage at home. New Orleans' pace and Zion Williamson's ability to attack a vulnerable Boston defence should allow them to secure a comfortable victory, finally getting in the win column.
Prop Bet: Z. Williamson Over 25.5 Points $1.90 (1.5 Units)
Pelicans –2.5

Toronto Raptors at San Antonio Spurs (11:00am AEDT)
The San Antonio Spurs are off to a sizzling start, entering their home matchup against the Toronto Raptors with a perfect 3-0 record, thanks in large part to the electrifying play of their young superstar, Victor Wembanyama. This isn't the lottery-bound Spurs of old; they're playing cohesive, aggressive basketball with a suffocating defence.
Wembanyama has been a one-man wrecking crew on defence, putting up absolutely absurd numbers. Not only has he been disruptive with 3 steals in his last outing, but he is also averaging an astounding 6 blocks per game to start the season. This level of rim protection and disruptive play makes the Spurs' defence a nightmare to face.
Meanwhile, the Raptors are just okay at 1-2. They're a team still finding their rhythm, but one troubling trend from last season remains: ball security. Toronto consistently ranked in the bottom quarter of the league for turnovers last year, and that sloppy play will be a huge liability against a player with Wembanyama's predatory defensive instincts.
This contest looks like a strong momentum indicator for San Antonio. They're at home, riding a high, and matching up against a team whose biggest weakness is perfectly exploited by their best player.
Prop Bet: V. Wembanyama Over 1.5 Steals $2.35
Spurs –5

Phoenix Suns at Utah Jazz (12:00pm AEDT)
The Phoenix Suns (1–2) travel to the Delta Center looking to halt a two-game skid against the Utah Jazz (1–1), who are back home after a heartbreaking one-point loss.
The Suns' early-season woes are largely down to poor defence, having conceded over 125 points per match. Their injury report is also a major concern: star forward Dillon Brooks (groin) has been added to the list and is currently Questionable. With Jalen Green already sidelined with a hamstring strain, the potential absence of the two-way play Brooks provides would be a significant blow to their rotation and overall team performance.
Conversely, the young Jazz squad has been energised and competitive, especially at home, where they secured a huge opening victory. Centre Walker Kessler has been a standout, showcasing exceptional efficiency. Through two matches, Kessler is averaging 12.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.5 steals, and 2.0 blocks and is yet to miss a field goal attempt. His size and defensive capabilities will be a tough challenge for the depleted Suns frontcourt.
Although Phoenix has a strong historical advantage, winning the last 10 straight matchups, the current health and momentum strongly favour the home side. The Jazz's energy and Kessler's dominance inside, coupled with the Suns' injury concerns and fatigue on the final leg of a road trip, point towards a home victory. Furthermore, with the starting line-up in flux, Suns forward Ryan Dunn—who has been seeing increased minutes and production—is a player to watch to exceed his points total.
Prop Bet: R. Dunn Over 8.5 Points (1 Unit)
