Hawthorn vs Port Adelaide Prediction & Betting Tips: AFL 2025 Round 19

Hawks Have to Deliver

Hawthorn will be looking to bounce back when they host Port Adelaide at its Tasmanian fortress, UTAS Stadium, to kick off a massive Super Saturday. The Hawks had their four-match winning streak snapped last weekend in a tough road loss to Fremantle. In a frustrating result, Sam Mitchell’s side held a lead at the final change but was ultimately outworked and overrun by the Dockers in the fourth quarter. That loss saw them slip to sixth place on a congested AFL ladder where every win is crucial. With a challenging run home, this clash against a depleted Port Adelaide outfit is a non-negotiable, must-win game if the Hawks want to solidify their spot in the top eight and keep their finals destiny in their own hands.

Power Depleted

Port Adelaide, meanwhile, is limping to the finish line of a deeply disappointing season. They managed to secure a comeback 26-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles last weekend, but the win came at a catastrophic cost. Star midfielder Jason Horne-Francis, who was best-on-ground with 27 disposals and three crucial goals, suffered a broken bone in his foot and is expected to miss the remainder of the season. The news gets worse for the Power, with captain Connor Rozee also ruled out of the trip to Tasmania with a hand injury. With their finals hopes already extinguished, the loss of their two most important players effectively signals the end of any meaningful fight left in their campaign.

Recent History

The recent history between these two clubs is fiery. Port Adelaide ended Hawthorn’s season last year in a thrilling semi-final, a match that finished with heated exchanges between players and coaches. The Power also got the better of the Hawks earlier this season at Adelaide Oval. However, this contest will be played on Hawthorn’s terms. UTAS Stadium in Launceston is a significant home-ground advantage for the Hawks, who have turned it into one of the toughest road trips in the league. With the tables turned and the Power missing their biggest stars, Hawthorn will be confident of exacting some revenge.

Hawks Revenge? Here's our Hawthorn vs Port Adelaide Tip

This match shapes up as a one-sided affair. Hawthorn has everything to play for, while Port Adelaide is severely undermanned and playing for pride alone. The Hawks will be the far more desperate and motivated side, eager to atone for last week’s fade-out. The absence of Horne-Francis and Rozee rips the heart out of the Power’s midfield, giving the Hawks a decisive advantage at the source. Expect Hawthorn to control the contest from the opening bounce and capitalize on the scoreboard. They should cover the -30.5 point spread comfortably and register a percentage-boosting win.

Hawthorn –30.5

Hawthorn vs Port Adelaide Prop Bet

Our Best Player Prop Bet: Ginnivan 2+ Goals

He failed to fire against the Power when they met earlier in the season, but he’s been in much better form of late and will be desperate to make a big impact on Saturday. The weather in Launceston is suited to small forwards and ground level players, so I’m happy with the value on offer for Ginnivan to kick a couple of goals in what should be a big win for the Hawks.

Jack Ginnivan 2+ Goals

$2.20

Hawthorn vs Port Adelaide Same Game Multi

Jack Ginnivan 2+ Goals: As mentioned above, I think there’s strong value in Ginnivan here.

Nick Watson 2+ Goals: Being a game more suited to smalls, this is right up the Wiz’s alley. He’ll be wreaking havoc against the Power small defenders.

Travis Boak 20+ Disposals: He had been getting 20+ with ease until last weekend’s 15 disposal tally, but there will be more opportunities to be around the ball here with no JHF or Rozee.

Same Game Multi Odds: $5.25 at Dabble
