Eagle Farm hosts 10 races on Saturday with the Group 3 Grand Prix Stakes (1800m) for three-year-olds the highlight on the program. Supporting the Grand Prix will be the Listed Gold Edition Plate (1200m) for three-year-old sprinters and the Listed Lough Neagh Stakes (1300m). The rail is out three metres for the entire circuit.

Eagle Farm Racing Tips: Saturday, December 20th 2025
Race 7: Ladbrokes Gold Edition Plate (1200m) – 3:57pm (4:57pm AEDT)
(1) Grafterburners is an impressive three-year-old colt who seeks a hat-trick of wins as he continues to win his way through the grades for trainer Kelly Schweida. Earlier this year, the son of Graff finished sixth in the Group 1 J J Atkins (1600m) won by Cool Archie. Jockey Cejay Graham will be trying to boot through from the inside gate to hold a prominent spot. Gets in very well under set weights and should take a stack of beating.
(13) Sylph is a filly for Michael Freedman who is still chasing her maiden success. She has been runner up at her past two, including the latest when narrowly beaten in the Listed Widden Stud Mode Stakes (1200m). It won’t be long until she notches her first career win.
(2) Damien was narrowly beaten by Grafterburners last start and a lot will depend on where he settles in the run. He won’t want to give the favourite a head start in the run.
(1) Grafterburners WIN
$2.20 (3 Units)
Race 8: Moreton Hire Lough Neagh Stakes (1300m)
(4) Tavs won a pair of Listed events, the Weetwood (1200m) and Members Cup (1400m) before finishing seventh in the Group 3 George Moore Stakes (1200m). Mark Currie’s five-year-old gelding had to work too hard last time so can be forgiven. Eagle Farm has been a prosperous track for the son of Dundeel, producing four wins from five starts. Will have to sit back from gate eight and look to thunder over the top of them.
(1) Rothfire has banked more than $4.7 million and has been a great horse for many years now. He won the Group 3 Sydney Stakes (1200m) two starts ago defeating Libertad who then went on to capture the Winterbottom Stakes. Put the pen through last start and Rothfire has had a small freshen up. Will be ready to go here.
(6) Accredited has been knocking on the door this preparation and will be right in the hunt here – he was second in the Group 2 The Hunter (1300m) two starts back before finishing fourth in the Group 3 Festival Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill. Can land on the speed here.
(4) Tavs WIN
$5.50 (1 Unit)
Race 9: Sky Racing Open Handicap (1800m) – 5:10pm (6:10pm AEDT)
(2) Walsh Bay has been a winning machine this campaign notching six straight victories, including the Toowoomba Cup (2000m), Listed Queensland Cup (2400m) and Mooloolaba Cup (1600m). The Chris and Corey Munce-trained four-year-old mare has shown her versatility to adapt to different distances from run to run, and she looks hard to beat as she seeks a 10th career win at start 17. Jockey Damien Thornton may have some options in the race and should get a gun run.
(4) Yet He Moves represents the powerful Chris Waller stable and has been racing in Queensland for a while now. Was narrowly beaten by Walsh Bay in the Mooloolaba Cup before winning a Benchmark 85 Handicap (1600m). Looms as the key danger to the favourite.
(8) Felix The Cat chased home Caulfield Cup and Melbourne Cup winner Half Yours in the Listed Caloundra Cup (2400m) back in July. He was sixth at his return to racing for Tony Gollan and it was a solid return. Yet to win second up from a spell from six attempts, so may put in another solid run without threatening at this stage.
(2) Walsh Bay WIN
$2.60 (2 Units)
