May 31st 2024, 2:59pm, By: Brendan Bunworth

Caulfield Racing Tips

Caulfield gets to host nine races on Saturday and after 24 hours of rain in the region, the track will highly likely be in the Soft region on what is the first day of winter. The first race starts at 11:50am (AEST), and our first of three tips comes up in Race 3. The last race of the day will conclude at 4:35pm (AEST).

Check out Brendan Bunworth’s best bets for Caulfield below, and be sure to head over to our Racing Tips page for more free tips from around the country this Saturday!

Caulfield Racing Tips: Saturday, June 1st 2024

Race 3: Vale Rod McQueen - 1pm (AEST)

(6) Princess Rayaa comes over from NSW after running a couple of good placings in a row and from a good barrier in 5 I reckon she might be ready to strike third up from a spell. Her Soft track form is a little unknown. She has placed on it but has run two poor trials on Soft ground too. She has placed twice over this distance and she is very consistent.

(2) Episodic had a wide barrier (11) but still won last start at Morphettville and this time has drawn the inside. She may be better on the Dry but needs to be put in considering the good run last start.

(10) Armani drops back in distance and she does go well over the 1400m. She ran on well to score at Pakenham two starts back but this is harder.

(6) Princess Rayaa

$3.80 (2 Units)

Race 7: EM Jensen Funerals Mile - 3:20pm (AEST)

(7) St Lawrence is second up here after running 3rd at Rosehill last start and he goes even better when second up. He loves Caulfield and from a favourable barrier in 3 he looks mighty hard to beat for the in-form Maher stable. He hasn’t won in 10 months but from a midfield position he will be having the last crack at them.

(3) Jimmy The Bear is 2 from 2 over this distance and Jimmy can handle Caulfield having won here twice before. Has jumped out since running at Morphettville (2nd) and is fit enough to win.

(8) Dashing hit the lead but got tired over the last 100m last time. He will be fitter again and remains with 54kg. Gets a better barrier here (7) after drawing poorly last time (15). Definitely an each way hope.

(7) St Lawrence

$2.80 (3 Units)

Race 8: Thoroughbred Club Of Australia Handicap - 4pm (AEST)

(1) Shesallshenanigans got a fair way back last time out up the straight at Flemington and plugged away to the line for 3rd. At the 200m mark and on the outside rail it looked like she was a chance at winning but maybe she just needed the run. At good odds she is worth and each-way play here, this time from an inside barrier. The 1200m looks ideal and so does the Soft track.

(2) Pivot City was 3rd behind Skybird last start at Morphettville and he has been freshened since. He does go alright fresh and he is 1 from 1 on the Soft.

(11) Lovely Lookin’ got too far back at Morphettville last start and is an unknown on rain affected tracks. Did make late ground last start so has to be included with Newitt on top for the first time.

(1) Shesallshenanigans E/W

$10.00/$3.20 (0.5 Units)
