Match Preview
After a three-game winning streak that saw them claim the scalps of Geelong and Port Adelaide, the Saints have lost their last three games on the spin, losing the last two in troubling fashion to the Bulldogs and Lions. The midfield has been absolutely smashed in those two games, and the Saints could desperately use some reinforcements in the middle of the ground as the likes of Jack Steele and Jack Macrae are currently looking a little one paced.
Luckily for the Saints, they could get a little infusion of talent through the middle this week, as youngster Mattaes Philippou looks set to return from a leg injury to make his season debut while Hunter Clark could also return from an abdominal strain. Unfortunately, Max King remains on the sidelines with a knee injury while promising youngster Alix Tauru, who looked in line to make his debut, has been suspended for four games after an incident in the VFL last week.
The Dockers kicked off the season with two straight losses to the Cats and Swans, but have since bounced back to win three of their next four games, the most recent of which a fantastic win over the Crows at home on Friday night. The star midfield duo of Andrew Brayshaw and Caleb Serong continued their dominant start to the season, racking up 69 touches between them in the win.
The Dockers could be boosted massively by the inclusion of Luke Jackson this week, after the ruck/forward missed the last three games with a hamstring injury. They still have a host of players on the injury/suspension list including Bailey Banfield, Will Brodie, Nat Fyfe, Jaeger O’Meara, Sam Sturt, Patrick Voss and Michael Walters.
After the strong start to the season against quality opposition, this three-game stretch at Marvel Stadium promised to be an opportunity for the Saints to stake their claim on the 2025 season given their recent form under the roof. It couldn’t have gone much worse through the first two weeks and I can’t see it getting any better against what is another star-studded midfield.
The Saints have been absolutely obliterated in the midfield over the last two weeks, losing the inside 50 count 69-31 against the Bulldogs and then 66-43 against the Lions. Only the Roos, Tigers and Eagles have worse inside 50 differentials this season. I think this gets ugly again for the Saints on Friday night, who lost by 17 points to the Dockers under the roof last season.
Fremantle -4.5

Josh Treacy 2+ Goals - Just a few behind the Coleman leader this season and has kicked multiple goals in five of his last six games. The Saints have got Dougal Howard back but still look undermanned in defence and allowed Eric Hipwood to snag four on the weekend.
Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera 25+ Disposals - Was injected into the lacking Saints midfield at times throughout the loss to the Lions and his numbers benefitted, racking up over 30 for the first time this season. Has only missed the 25 mark once in seven games.
Hayden Young 20+ Disposals - Has been back in the Dockers lineup for three games now and has cleared the 20 disposal mark in his last two straight. Had a field day against the Saints last year with 27 touches and three scoring shots (despite kicking 0.3).
SGM Odds: $2.60 at BoomBet
