Match Preview
The Roosters were primed for a big performance on ANZAC Day against the Dragons and duly delivered a 46-18 victory. After a tight start, the Roosters quickly gained momentum and appeared to be making metres easily. Their dominance in possession (55%) and high completion rate (81%) gave them further confidence to average 11.5m per carry and make 10 line breaks. They are phenomenal statistics.
The Dolphins were also primed to perform well but let a strong start against the Raiders slip, blowing a 28-10 HT lead to be defeated 40-28. They were made to pay for their mistakes in the second half, eventually finishing with a 72% completion rate and just a 47% share of possession. It was worse defensively, as they missed 44 tackles and allowed 8 line breaks.
The closeness of this match is reflected in the odds. Both teams are capable on their day of performing well. Team changes do little to separate the teams either. Looking at their recent performances, the loss of the Dolphins may mask how good they have been. Giving up such a margin though is a cause for concern. The Roosters were dominant last week but their opponents were poor; perhaps they forced them into this level of execution. Team changes matter little so perhaps it is worth reflecting on their efforts across the season thus far. The Dolphins are better on both sides of the ball, averaging 24ppg in attack (vs Roosters 21ppg) and 22 points in defence (vs Roosters 27ppg).
When the Roosters have lost this season, they have been poor defensively. The improving execution of the Dolphins attack gives them a great opportunity to perform well. If there is one positive from last week, it is their dominating first half display against a strong defensive unit. With this game so close (there is a slight lean towards the Dolphins), invest around it being a close contest and enjoy everything this game has to offer.

Leg 1: Total Points over 48.5 – The average margin in their past meetings (only 3) is 54.7 points. They have a knack for both being involved in high scoring matches and this trend looks set to continue.
Leg 2: Nawaqanitawase to score – his move to the wing has added another dimension to his game, seemingly offering him more attacking opportunities. Watching him in full flight last week was fantastic and he is set to excite again this week.
Leg 3: Farnworth to score – he has crossed 3 times this season, including last week. Farnworth appears to be getting better each week and will again be a handful for his opponents in any attacking position.
