2019 F1 Spanish Grand Prix Betting Tips
It was a fantastic weekend for Before You Bet at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix two weeks ago as we tipped Valtteri Bottas to claim the title at $4.25 and he saluted, beating out teammate Lewis Hamilton to win his second Grand Prix of the season.
The Mercedes look absolutely unstoppable at the moment, having taken the top two steps on the podium in all four races so far this season. Bottas and Hamilton have claimed two wins each and currently sit separated by just one point at the top of the drivers’ standing due to the extra point that drivers get for achieving the fastest lap of the race.
Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel has found some form over the past two races, finishing in 3rd place behind the Mercedes in both China and Azerbaijan. However, he still looks behind the pace when being compared to the Mercedes it could likely be until the engine change a third through the season before the Ferrari’s are competitive.
Aussie Daniel Ricciardo’s horror start to the season continued in Azerbaijan as he failed to finish the race for the second time this year. Retirements in Australia and Azerbaijan have sandwhiched an 18th place finish in Bahrain and a 7th place finish in China, and he’ll be looking to climb up the rankings in Spain, where he boasts two podium finishes in his career.
It’s tough to look past the Mercedes this weekend. Lewis Hamilton starts as a strong favourite at $2.25 ahead of his teammate Valtteri Bottas at around $3.25. It will be the first time that Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel hasn’t been on the top two lines of the betting markets in a long time.
Lewis Hamilton looks particularly ominous. He has won the last two Spanish Grand Prix’s in a row and will be looking for back to back to back titles this year. In fact, aside from a retirement in 2016, Hamilton hasn’t finished lower than 2nd place in Spain in his last five trips there.
