The exciting NBA season continues on Saturday February 29th. There’s a huge 10-game slate on the cars with plenty of intriguing matchups among them. As always, we preview our best betting tips from some of the key matches and wish you all the best of luck if following.
NBA Betting Tips Saturday February 29th
Minnesota Timberwolves @ Orlando Magic
11:10am AEDT
The Timberwolves were surprise winners last time out against the Heat, defeating them by three points in a thrilling road victory. That win snapped a then five game losing streak and is just their second time saluting from their past 20 games. Whether or not that win will spark some interest back into their playing group remains to be seen as their season is all but over.
The Magic were able to get a hold of the Haws after quarter time in their meeting on Thursday and finished 10 point winners. That was the Magic’s second win in a row and their fourth from their past five games as they look to remain in the box seat for a playoff berth in the East. They’re currently in eighth position and five games ahead of the ninth placed Wizards.
The Timberwolves may have secured an unlikely win last time out against the Heat, but we’re almost certain it won’t happen again when they take on the Magic. The Magic are still firmly in the playoff hunt in the East and cannot afford to drop games to rebuilding teams like the Timberwolves and we expect to see a sense of urgency from them on Saturday as a result.
OKC Thunder @ Milwaukee Bucks
12:10pm AEDT
The Thunder were expected to make fairly like work of the Kings in their meeting on Friday, but it turned out to be anything but easy. They had to rally back from a double-digit half time deficit to eventually come away with a four point win at home. Impressively, that win was the Thunder’s fifth on the spin and has seen them climb into fifth spot in the West standings.
The Bucks bounced back from a scare against the Wizards to record a really impressive win against the Raptors last time out. They won by double-digits despite Giannis scoring just 18 points from a low percentage. That win was the Bucks fourth in a row and took their season record to 50-8, which is easily the best mark in the NBA.
The Thunder have been ticking over the win column of late, but we expect that to come to an end when they travel to Milwaukee on Saturday. It will be the Thunder’s second leg of a tricky back to back and they’ll come up against a fresh Bucks outfit that is brimming with confidence. We see this ending in a very comfortable win for the current best team in the NBA.

Detroit Pistons @ Phoenix Suns
1:10pm AEDT
The Pistons front office made it very clear that they have no interest in their team winning any games at all for the rest of the season. They’re clearly looking towards the future and will be in tank mode for the rest of this campaign. They come into this off a loss away to Denver (98-115), which was their seventh straight defeat and 41st of the season against just 19 wins.
The Suns are one of a few teams in the West that still believe they’re a chance to snag the eighth seed if they can gather some end of season momentum. They’re currently sitting in third last in the conference but their 24-35 record has them just 4.5 games behind the current eight seed in the Grizzlies. The Suns come into this off a loss to the Clippers, which was obviously to be expected.
The Suns are by no means a good team, but they’re at least still playing to win and that should be enough in this matchup against the tanking Pistons. We expected the line to be a bit bigger than it is, so we’re happy to make a play on the Suns to win this by 6-7+ points at home.
