2015-16 EPL: Week 21 Preview & Betting Tips

January 10th 2016, 10:50am, By: C.McGregor9

The English Premier League returns after having a week off for FA Cup action and the biggest match of the weekend comes on Thursday morning with Arsenal travelling to Anfield to take on Liverpool. Read on for our EPL Week 21 Preview and Betting Tips.

Newcastle United vs Manchester United (Wednesday 6.45am AEDT)

The Red Devils have been able to snap their winless streak by defeating Swansea City last week before grabbing a late winner against Sheffield United in the FA Cup. The pressure is still mounting on Louis Van Gaal and it is only a matter of time before he is replaced as head coach. The side still isn’t performing at the level it should be, however they will have enough class and attack to defeat Newcastle in this one.

The Magpies are in the relegation zone and have the third worst defence in the league allowing 35 goals this season. They also have the third worst offence as they have only found the back of the net 19 times. Their woes will continue as Manchester United will pick up a comfortable victory.

TIP: Manchester United @ $1.85 with WilliamHill

Aston Villa vs Crystal Palace (Wednesday 6.45am AEDT)

Unfortunately for the home side they are sitting on just 8 points and are on the bottom of the table with just the one win this season. It is almost inevitable that they will be relegated and it won’t get any better for them this weekend as they take on the 7th placed Crystal Palace who are incredibly strong on the road. The Eagles have won more games on the road this season than at home and have only suffered two losses in 9 games. Alan Pardew has done a lot with this side since arriving half way through last season as their confidence is incredibly high and their defence is one of the strongest in the league. They will continue their strong away record and hand Aston Villa another defeat.

TIP: Crystal Palace @ $2.50 with Crownbet

Liverpool vs Arsenal (Thursday 7am AEDT)

The Gunners will enter week 21 on the top of the table and they will need to be at their best to ensure they remain their as Liverpool always seem to lift their game against the stronger sides in the league. The Reds smashed Manchester City last month 4-1 in their best performance under new manager Jurgen Klopp. He will be looking for a similar effort from his men who have been inconsistent under his reign.

Since losing 4-0 to Southampton Arsenal have been undefeated in the league picking up two victories against Bournemouth and Newcastle United and Arsene Wenger will be pleased that his side was able to keep clean sheets on both occasions. The side has won five of their last six league matches whilst Liverpool is coming off a 2-0 loss on the road against West Ham. The home side is known for bouncing back after a tough loss but it won’t happen this time as the Gunners will secure the three points.

TIP: Arsenal @ $2.40 with Sportsbet

Tottenham vs Leicester City (Thursday 7pm AEDT)

The Foxes remain in the top four and are in second position but they have the Spurs breathing down on them, as they are just four points behind them in fourth position. Leicester have stumbled in recent weeks as they have picked up just two points from a possible nine, however it has been against tough opposition in Manchester City and Liverpool.

Meanwhile the Spurs are continuing to travel under the radar and have suffered just the two losses all season. Their inability to shut teams out and pick up victories has cost them, as they have had to settle for a draw in 9 of their 20 matches. That will be a problem again for the Spurs as Leicester will do enough to leave White Hart Lane with a point.

TIP: Draw @ $3.75 with Palmerbet
