The Perth Wildcats return to RAC Arena following an absolute thriller against Adelaide on Wednesday night. Despite former franchise star Bryce Cotton returning to haunt them with a massive 37-point haul, the Wildcats managed to snatch a 98-97 victory thanks to a clutch game-winner from Elijah Pepper. Pepper finished with a team-high 25 points, while Jo Lual-Acuil Jr anchored the paint with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Anthony Dell'Orso also provided a handy 20 points. Securing that first win in such dramatic fashion is a massive confidence builder, but John Rillie’s men now face the physical challenge of backing up on a short turnaround.
The New Zealand Grind
The Breakers make the long trek to Western Australia to close out a busy opening week schedule. They started their campaign by taking down Illawarra 95-81 on Sunday, before falling 88-85 to the Brisbane Bullets on Tuesday night. Parker Jackson-Cartwright led the charge against the Bullets with 26 points and seven assists, while Dejan Vasiljevic added 17 points of his own. The travel itinerary has been heavy for New Zealand early on, but they have shown enough on the offensive end to prove they can match it with anyone.
Erasing The Track Record
If the Breakers are going to cover the line, they need to overcome a heavily one-sided recent track record against the Wildcats. Perth has controlled this matchup over the last couple of years, winning each of their past meetings. Reversing that trend will be a significant mental hurdle for New Zealand to clear on Saturday night.

Bookmakers have favoured the Wildcats at home, but spotting the Breakers 6.5 points offers some value. Perth just scraped by against Adelaide, and their defence showed vulnerabilities that Jackson-Cartwright and Vasiljevic are more than capable of exploiting.
