West Coast vs Geelong Prediction & Betting Tips: AFL 2025 Round 12
Same Old Geelong
The Cats came out on top in one of the best games of 2025 last week, outlasting the Dogs by 14 points in a shootout in Geelong. Geelong have won three of their last four games, with wins against first placed Collingwood and the red hold Bulldogs firmly cementing their position as a premiership contender. Geelong’s scoring power has been well and truly on display, with scores of 127, 115 and 101 in their last three games, and they should reach the century mark again against one of the worst defensive teams in the league.
Back to Regular Programming
After a breakthrough win in Round 10, the Eagles kept the game competitive in the first half against Adelaide last week. However West Coast were dealt a reality check as the Crows piled on eleven goals to three in the second half, to be beaten by 66 points. It was the seventh time this season that the Eagles have conceded over 100 points, and was the fifth time they’ve conceded over 120 points.
The Stats That Matter
West Coast have conceded the most points in the AFL this season, conceding an average score of 107 points per game. Unsurprisingly they’ve also conceded the most points from turnover in 2025, giving up 63 points per game from this source. Coming into Round 12 Geelong were the fourth highest scoring team in the AFL (99 points per game), and the Cats also rank ourth for scores from turnover (52 points per game). This is a recipe for disaster for West Coast, who have been dominated by Geelong in recent seasons.
Eagles or Cats? Here’s our West Coast vs Geelong Tip
Geelong’s scoring profile is as balanced as any team in the competition, ranking 2nd for scores from stoppages, 3rd for scores from forward half, 4th for scores from turnover, 5th for scores from defensive half and 5th for scores from stoppages. With the talent they have on every line, they are able to score from any phase of the game, which
makes them one of the hardest teams in the league to defend. West Coast are obviously a long way off Geelong, and given the Eagles inability to defend, it’s nearly certain that this game is an absolute annihilation.
Geelong have absolutely slaughtered West Coast, outsourcing the Eagles by 1220 points since 2000, the biggest margin between any two clubs this century. The Cats have won seven of the last eight meetings between the two sides, with the last five games resulting in wins to Geelong by margins of 93, 47, 85, 18 and 97 points.
