Midweek racing sees us focus on the middle day of the Warrnambool Racing Club May Carnival as punters focus on the Wangoom and the Galleywood. The Wangoom is a Listed sprint over 1200m, while the Galleywood is a hurdle event over 3200m. Race one starts at the early time of 11:20am (AEST), with the last of 10 concluding at around 4:30pm (AEST). Runners will be running on a Soft5 or Soft6 surface and the weather is predicted to be a little warmer than it usually is for the May races with 18 degrees forecast. My three best bets are below!

Warrnambool Racing Tips: Wednesday, May 6th 2026
Race 6: Margaret Lucas Galleywood Hurdle 3200m - 2:05pm (AEST)
(1) Highland Blaze Is a local runner who would have targeted this race from as long as 12 months ago. Shane Jackson trains and Jordan Hart rides, and he has won on four occasions for Hart. His two runs in from a spell have been solid and those races were over the long journey of 2600m and 3000m so he will be fit enough. On both occasions he made up late lengths over the final 200m. He is 1 from 1 over the track&distance.
(6) The Storyteller led all of the way on a Heavy track last start at Terang and is the likely leader here. He has had an excellent 12 months having won four races and he did win a hurdle trial at Hamilton last month.
(5) Karburan won his Maiden Hurdle at Warrnambool two starts back and returns to the track after running a 4th at Terang on a Heavy surface last start.
(1) Highland Blaze WIN
$2.60 (2 units)
Race 7: Sinclair Wilson Handicap 1400m - 2:45pm (AEST)
(12) Boltsaver looks a good value chance in this after he stormed home for 3rd at Caulfield last start. Despite not having won in 16 months, he goes pretty well second up and does have in-form John Allen on top. He has never won over the 1400 meters before but has run some very good placings. Has had 1 start at The Bool for a 2nd.
(10) Ultra Blue Has a wide barrier in 14 but Linda Meech will try and get him across and settle in the top couple. On March 26 he won at Warrnambool after leading and it was a big win too having won by 4.75L.
(8) Enna’s Dream has drawn inside and she goes a lot better on Soft tracks which she gets here. She goes very well over the 1400m but barrier 1 does make it a little difficult considering she gets back in her races.
(12) Boltsaver Each-Way
$8.50/$2.80 (1 unit)
Race 8: The Midfield Group Colin McKenna Wangoom Handicap 1200m - 3:20pm (AEST)
(14) Oliveanotherday will have half of Warrnambool on him I reckon in this but it is hard to go past him after his last three races which have all resulted in victories. First up he was a 4.75L winner at Ballarat and he backed that up with an easy 3.25L victory after settling on pace that day at Caulfield Heath. He then went to Caulfield at his next start and won by 2L after settling on speed. The Wangoom is actually a tough race to sit on speed and win but I think he is too good.
(6) La Fracas has drawn well in 3 and Has won 6 races from 9 starts over this distance. He goes really well on rain affected tracks which he probably won't get here but does have a very good ability to finish off his races very strongly which is usually that profile for this race.
(7) Paradise City has drawn inside and probably wants a Soft5. Goes well first up and he was a Flemington winner two starts ago.
(14) Oliveanotherday WIN
