Titans vs Bulldogs Predictions & Tips: NRL Round 17 2026
Something special about these Titans
While most will knock the 19-18 home victory of the Titans over the Panthers given the players missing for the visitors, the way the home team captured victory was positive enough to say this team is heading in the right direction. They hung in the contest, to the point where they had the chance to win the game, and so it was in the 79th minute. Doing it tough, they overcame just 45% possession and a 78% completion rate, while averaging 9m per carry, 639 PCM’s, and 5 line breaks. They can still improve upon that effort though, as they missed 42 total tackles. Perhaps a better team might have defeated them on that day but the grit and determination was impressive to say the least.
A timely victory; now, it must be two
It has been a season of underachievement thus far for the Bulldogs and behind 8-6 at HT, they could’ve easily folded against a team higher than them on the ladder. That didn’t phase them though, as they overcame an inferior share of possession (48%) and completion rate (78%) which saw them average just 7.8m per carry. Their opponents dominated them in this area; the Bulldogs also made fewer line breaks (5 vs 7) and missed more tackles (34). Thankfully, they stayed in the contest and prevailed when it mattered. The challenge ahead of them is now maintaining that momentum long enough to allow them to climb up the competition ladder as time ahead of the Finals slowly runs out.
Stats that matter
- The Titans have won just 1 of the past 6 games between these two sides. This is interesting considering they win 43% of games at home but the Bulldogs have just a 23% strike rate here (3 wins in 13 attempts).
- In the past 5 games between these two sides, the average margin of victory is 14.8 points, with 3 games decided by 16 points or more. In the same number of matches, the average total points is 50.8.
- These two teams have struggled this season and are mixed in who dominates either side of the ball. The Titans score 19ppg in attack compared to the Bulldogs 17ppg. However, they concede 25ppg defensively, compared to the Bulldogs 24ppg.
Too close to call
If this game had occurred last round, there would’ve been a slight lean towards the Titans. That was based off the poor performance of the Bulldogs as opposed to the talent the home team possesses. An improved effort from the Bulldogs, a change in the halves with Crichton named there, and suddenly, they appear as though they are a different team. Interestingly, their defensive resolve returned also. It might not be enough to invest on them with confidence, but it gives them a strong chance. The same can be said of the Titans. Their ability to close out the result last week will give them the confidence they need in coming weeks to be competitive. There are similar forwards, outside backs with power and speed, with a halves pairing that is still finding cohesion. Given those factors, on top of the inconsistency each have displayed this season, the safest option is to invest on this game being a close contest. That way, you can sit back and enjoy everything this contest can offer over 80 minutes.

Titans vs Bulldogs Same Game Multi
Leg 1 = Total points over 47.5 – see above for justification.
Leg 2 = Tracey to score – he has scored in each of his past 5 matches against the Titans. As he returns to full fitness, Tracey will want to increase his work rate further and have a positive impact on this game for his team.
Leg 3 = Fifita to score – he has scored in 2 of his past 3 games against the Bulldogs and seems to have only grown in confidence following his selection in the Origin team. 3 tries in his past 4 games at home should only increase his chances of crossing for a try in this match.
