Thunder vs Pacers: NBA Finals Game 7 Predictions & Tips

Game 6 Recap

Only 10 turnovers. That first stat was a major contributor to the Indiana Pacers winning 108-91 in Game 6 against the OKC Thunder. For much of the postseason, the elite defensive outfit of the Thunder has forced opponents into turning the ball over. That was not the case in Game 6 in Indiana, as the Pacers only committed 10 turnovers compared to the Thunder’s 21 turnovers.

Tyrese Haliburton played through injury, and it seemed to spark his teammates as they played good team basketball, sharing the rock and scoring load between the core rotational players. Obi Toppin led the way off the bench with 20 points, whilst Andrew Nembhard had 17 and Pascal Siakam finished with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Haliburton finished with 14 points in 22 minutes and his backup, T.J. McConnell was outstanding once again, doing a bit of everything with 12 points, nine rebounds, six assists and four steals.

The Thunder started to get careless with the ball as the Pacers intercepted the passing lanes, leading to transition baskets at the other end. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had a whopping eight turnovers in the game, finishing with just 21 points. In addition to 21 turnovers, the Thunder shot 27% from three and only recorded four steals for the game.

Jalen Williams was mediocre with 16 points and Chet Holmgren went missing, finishing with four points and six rebounds. Quite simply, the best team this season didn’t turn up, and played like they had a game in hand.

One Game to Declare a Champion! Here’s Our Thunder vs Pacers Tip

One-and-done. An entire NBA season, 82 games, plus four gruelling NBA playoff rounds, has led to the seventh and final game of the NBA Finals. Winner takes all!

The Thunder are yet to lose back-to-back games in the postseason and only lost consecutive games throughout the regular season on two occasions, which is a remarkable statistic, showcasing the high-level of talent this franchise has on their roster. They will quickly forget Game 6 and focus on the task ahead, bolstered by their home crowd at the Paycom Center.

It is unlikely SGA, Williams and Holmgren will all play as poorly as they did last game. Expect Gilgeous-Alexander to be aggressive, looking for his midrange shot to fall, whilst also trying to draw contact and get to the free throw line.

The Thunder’s defensive pressure should also be much higher at home with Lu Dort, Alex Caruso, Cason Wallace and co. getting back to their brand of high-pressure basketball on the defensive end. Expect better defensive rotations, traps, and disrupting ball handlers such as Haliburton.

For the Pacers, Siakam appeared locked in for Game 6, as he channelled The Undertaker prior to the game. Unlike the Thunder, the Pacers share scoring duties a lot more with their core nine-man rotation all capable of dropping 10 or more points when their number is called. They just need to keep the game within reach heading into the fourth quarter, and we could be in for one of the great NBA Finals games. The series has delivered, and it deserves one last hurrah of epic proportions.

Not afraid to say that I am openly rooting for the Pacers to capture the NBA championship, however, the Thunder consistently bounce back from losses and at home, even in games that they have lost in the postseason, they had led by double figures at one stage. Expecting the Thunder to prove too good in Game 7 and win on their homecourt to bring home the franchise’s first trophy since relocating to Oklahoma City.

Thunder -6.5

Thunder vs Pacer Same Game Multi

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander over 30.5 points: SGA is going to play a lot of minutes, more than normal, and can look for another game scoring 31 points or more.

T.J. McConnell over 15.5 points + assists + rebounds: McConnell continues to be a revelation late in the series and he can do a bit of everything.

Jalen Williams over 19.5 points: Williams had a shocking Game 6 and should be aggressive once again, as he looks for another 20 or 30-point game.

Luguentz Dort over 0.5 three pointers: Dort shoots the three well at home, so he can make at least one high-arching three pointer to get the crowd buzzing.
