Storm vs Broncos Predictions & Tips: NRL Round 23
Business as usual for the Storm
It was another gritty, determined display by the Storm to prevail 16-10 over the Eels. In a tight match, the Storm were good in absorbing pressure and taking their limited chances when provided with them. With 54% possession and an 84% completion rate, they averaged 8.8m per carry, make 685 PCM’s and only missed 18 tackles. They are a quality team which is hitting peak performance at the right time of the season.
Broncos Painting over the cracks
The Broncos were good last week in their 60-14 victory over the struggling Rabbitohs. Expected to dominate, the Broncos only had to wait for their opponents to fatigue before they were able to capitalise. Scoring 10 tries for the match and only leading 18-8 at HT, they were dynamic in the second half. They completed at 78% with 53% possession, averaged 10.3m per carry, had 10 line breaks and missed just 26 tackles. Still, there was some parts of their performance, especially with the tries that they conceded, that they must improve upon moving forward.
Stats that matter
-
The Storm not only have a dominant record at home over the Broncos (76% vs Broncos 20%), but they have also won 16 of the past 17 games against their opponents.
-
Despite two blowout victories in the past 5 matches (one to each team), with 3 matches decided by 10 points or less, the average margin of victory is 16.8 points.
-
The Storm have the edge this season on both sides of the ball. They score an average of 38ppg in attack and concede just 18ppg. The Broncos score 27ppg and concede 21ppg.
Closer than you think
The history alone the home team have over the Broncos is enough to scare any punter off. They will not want to give up their home ground easily either. However, there is something about the performance and execution from the Storm in the past two weeks which suggests a loss is coming ahead of the Finals. It is bound to happen and despite a larger number of questions lingering over the Broncos, they are a chance of causing one here. The halves situation the Storm currently have isn’t ideal and while it is offset by other players in their team, it will limit their point scoring ability at some stage. This makes for a close contest and as the statistics suggest they will struggle to win, the preferred option is for the visitors to carry the line into this match. Keep your stake low though as more will be known about each team post an exciting 80 minutes of rugby league.

Storm vs Broncos Same Game Multi
Leg 1 = Storm 1-12 – goes without saying considering the Suggested Bet above.
Leg 2 = Papenhuyzen to score – he has scored 6 tries in the past 5 matches against the Broncos. It has been a lean few weeks for the Melbourne fullback but as he gets back to his best, his chances of scoring a try only increase.
Leg 3 = Coates to score – leading the Storms try scoring tally for the season, Coates continues to be a threat from anywhere on the field. He has also scored a try in his past 2 matches against the Broncos and 6 in his past 5 matches at this ground.
