Worrying signs
With a spot in the Finals still achievable and facing a team below them on the ladder, the Sea Eagles went into their match against the Tigers as favourites. It soon became apparent that they would have to work hard for victory and the match quickly unravelled for them one their opponents built attacking momentum. The Sea Eagles were poor on both sides of the ball; with just 43% possession they completed at 66%, made significantly fewer metres (8.2m per carry), allowed 6 line breaks and missed 44 tackles. It raised further questions about this team’s ability to win crucial matches in the future.
Finals hopes slipping away
The Dolphins were in a positive position against the Broncos last week leading 28-14 over the Broncos. Unfortunately, things turned quickly, and they were unable to halt their opponent’s attacking momentum, eventually defeated 38-28 in a major blow for their Finals hopes. The Dolphins have earned the right to be considered the superior team and look set to produce a strong match with key forwards returning.
