Sale Racing Tips: Wednesday, June 10th

June 10th 2020, 11:10am, By: Trent Crebbin

Welcome to our horse racing preview and betting tips for racing at Sale on Wednesday, June 10th.

We're back to Sale for another midweek meeting in Victoria. For once the track is rated a good 4, and the rail is out 3 metres. On the wet Sale tracks they’ve been coming wide in the straight, but it should play relatively fairly here.

Trent Crebbin's race-by-race preview and betting tips can be found below!

Sale Racing Tips: Wednesday, June 10th

Best Bet: Race 4 - (3) With Edge

Next Best: Race 6 - (1) That Girl

Best Value: Race 3 - (12) Sublime Diva

Race 1 (Market)

Most of these are on debut. Of the raced brigade, (6) Spirit of Giving is the favourite. He ran a narrow 2nd to Valaquenta on debut before racing 4 wide and failing in the Blue Diamond preview. He’ll be hard to beat off his debut performance alone. (3) Mccain has to be respected for Payne/Egan. (1) Bixilon has been well backed early and draws barrier 1 for Michael Rodd. He jumped out behind Zesty Belle who started favourite at Flemington on Saturday. (11) Journalese has jumped out well for her debut also.

(1) Bixilon

$11

Race 2 (Market)

Doesn’t get any easier here. (6) Swan Cap is bred to be pretty good. This Snitzel colt out of a sister to More Joyous draws well and jumped out okay for his debut. Keen to see him regardless of the result today. None of the raced horses here have shown much. The aptly named (5) So Let’s Toast (So You Think x Slainte) has jumped out well. Draws awkwardly but expect him to run well. (4) Rhode Scholar has also jumped out nicely. Difficult to have a real crack at anything here unless you’re a real trial file. Could speck Swan Cap for Lindsay Park who are going at 18% for their last 50 runners, with Mott riding 4 of theirs to victory in the past week.

(6) Swan Cap

$8.00

Race 3 (Market)

Onto a race with a bit of form. Keen to see (12) Sublime Diva step out again. This filly out of the 3x Melbourne Cup winner was beaten out of sight on debut, in a fairly handy maiden, before progressing nicely to run a narrow 2nd last start. Up in trip is a huge positive and she looks ready to win. (4) Not For Izzy can’t quite crack it for a win, going under as a $2.10 favourite last start at this track/distance. From barrier 1 he’ll get every chance up on speed. Speaking of SP’ing short last start, (5) Resolute Lad went down as a $1.55 pop. The sectionals don’t exactly suggest he’s crying out for further but being by Reliable Man you’d expect it to help. (2) Fabelot is on debut for Olly/O’Brien. This Camelot colt debuts over the long trip which is interesting. Open race but I think Sublime Diva is ready to win here.

(12) Sublime Diva

$7.00

Race 4 (Market)

Expecting (3) With Edge to be going close here. Ran first up at this track/distance in a handy BM64 and was only beaten 2.4L. The form behind Final Man and La Chevalee, both city metro winners since reads well. From barrier 2 McNeil should be able to land in a good spot around midfield and be too strong. (6) High Risk has been backed early on debut but does draw wide. (7) Make An Effort was awful on debut late last year, but was only claimed late behind Japery in a maiden here a couple weeks ago. He did start $41 that day and this isn’t a lot easier so to be single figures here seems a bit short. If he crosses easily, he could keep progressing. (2) Retell has also jumped out well and been the subject of an early move. Keen on With Edge.

(3) With Edge

$3.60

Race 5 (Market)

(6) Write Enuff finally got another win on the board last start at this track over 1100m. On the same day over the 1000m (8) Paris ran better sectionals after a muddling run, sitting wide on speed before dropping back and making her run. Paris effectively gets 2.5kg less from their respective races today. (2) Flostar bounced back to win after working early last start. She won’t get it all her own way today with Write Enuff drawing inside. I’d expect Flostar to sit outside Write Enuff in the run. (5) Shotgun Rosie took on some handy races last preparation, but she’s only won 1/3 first up and that was on debut so just watching her today.

(8) Paris

$5.50

Race 6 (Market)

This race revolves around (1) That Girl. First up last preparation she ran 2nd to handy3yo Star Surprise. On debut she actually started a $1.70 favourite and thrashed a horse called Garner, who has group class form in Melbourne and Adelaide.  After Rawiller’s claim she only carries 60.5kg which isn’t a whole lot for a Class 1 at Sale. If she’s ready to go she should be too strong from the back. (8) Japery was a good winner for us last start. His narrow 4th to Rock The Ring first up reads well with that horse winning easily at Swan Hill Sunday. (5) Pereira next best, but pretty confident the winner comes from the first two. Watch the market with That Girl as you may get a better price due to the weight/map.

(1) That Girl

$3.75

Race 7 (Market)

My boy (2) Pharrell is back. He won for us at $18 (post deductions) last start at basically this track/distance (2200m vs 2219m). Goes up 2kg for that effort but he did come out of a T/D win last year and make it two wins on the trot. (11) Set Us Free got within a nose of Pharrell last start and does get the weight swing today. I’m thinking back onto a good track will greatly benefit (5) Big Sur. He’s been beaten a long way in his last two, which were admittedly stronger races. Three back he ran 2nd to the promising Dark Alley on a soft 5. Desperately hoping they don’t snick to last from the gate because he can race off the pace. On the quick backup and good track, I’ll take a chance on him. Heaps of other chances with not much between (7) Blandford Lad and (8) Monmouth from their last meeting. The former ran the best sectionals of the race from the back, but after drawing wide again will be at the mercy of the tempo.

(5) Big Sur

$5.00

Race 8 (Market)

Interesting little contest here with (7) Walking Flying the early favourite. This 3yo filly ran in the traditional SA Oaks path, finishing a narrow 5th to winner Toffee Tongue. Last start she worked home okay to be beaten by Oasis Girl in a stakes race over 2000m. Drawn the carpark, she’ll need every inch of the 1728m here. The track will be key- if they’re getting off the fence despite the good surface, I think she’ll go close, but if she has to loop the field, she might be left with too much to do. Outside of her the race is very open. (3) Into Rio has only won 4 races but was good last start at this track over 1600m. (6) The View is lightly raced and can progress here but doesn’t map well. I think this race is a case of you like Walking Flying, find something at huge odds to bob up, or stay out. I’ll lean to the former but playing late after monitoring the track and where they come down the straight.

(7) Walking Flying

$3.50

Race 9 (Market)

Tricky race to finish. I’ve had enough of (3) Evening Glory who keeps sucking me in. (1) Designer Chef is racing well in his debut campaign. Carries 61kg here but should maintain his form. Hardest to beat will be (2) Uluru who returned an impressive winner on the Pakenham synthetic. The 2nd horse in that race, El Phoenix, came out and won easily next start. I think the best horse in the race going forward could be (10) Necessitas but first up over 1400m surely isn’t her go, even in an average race. I like the maiden form lines of (13) Gettysburg Address. The 2nd horse from its maiden win, Arctic Wolf, just got the job done as a $1.55 favourite next start beating Cabinho, who (6) Cowboy ran 4th to on debut, beaten 4L after racing wide. We should get a further guide to that form through top pick Sublime Diva in r3. Both have a bit of upside so banking on that form to hold up in a very tough race.

Value: (6) Cowboy $26

(13) Gettysburg Address

$5.00
