Saturday night at Allianz Stadium gives us a classic favourite bounce back spot, as the Roosters host the Eels in a game where the line still looks a little short despite some genuine team list risk. My fair spread sits around Roosters -14.5, while the market is offering Roosters -9.5/10.5, leaving enough value to back the home side, but this is another small outlay play due to post-Origin uncertainty.
The Roosters are without James Tedesco, who has been ruled out for two weeks with a concussion suffered in Origin, and that is obviously a major blow. There are also fitness concerns around several Roosters players backing up from Origin. Daniel Tupou is set to bring up his 300th NRL game, while late mail suggested Cody Ramsey and Rex Bassingthwaighte are among possible fullback options.
Parramatta, meanwhile, have improved in patches but remain far too inconsistent defensively. Against a Roosters side with Daly Cherry-Evans, Mark Nawaqanitawase, Robert Toia, and enough forward power to control territory, I still think the home side should cover.

Roosters vs Eels Prediction & Tips: 2026 NRL Round 19
Roosters Need to Cover for Origin Losses
The Roosters’ last two wins (27-8 win over Cronulla) and (24-18 over the Broncos) showed exactly why I still rate them strongly, even with the Tedesco concern this week. The Roosters defended well, controlled territory, and limited two dangerous attacking teams in both games. It was the type of professional Origin fortnight they needed after a patchy month.
This week is different. Losing Tedesco removes their best yardage back, their defensive organiser at the back, and one of their most dangerous support players. That cannot be brushed aside. But the Roosters still have plenty of class elsewhere. Cherry-Evans and Savala should be able to control field position, while Robson gives them ruck speed and defensive stability through the middle.
The forward pack remains the main reason I’m comfortable. Lindsay Collins, Victor Radley, Spencer Leniu, Siua Wong and the rest of the rotation give Sydney enough power to dominate Parramatta if their discipline is right. The Roosters don’t need to be flashy to cover this. They need to pin the Eels deep, force errors, and let their spine build scoreboard pressure.
The Tedesco/Walker/Robson absences probably stops this being a bigger bet. So does the Origin turnaround for several key players. But even with those concerns, the Roosters still look multiple levels more reliable than Parramatta.
Eels Showed Fight, But Still Hard to Trust
Parramatta’s 23-14 win over Manly last week was one of their better results of the season. Dylan Walker produced one of the passes of the year to set up Kelma Tuilagi, Jonah Pezet celebrated his return with a clutch kick and regather try and a late field goal, and the Eels showed a level of fight that had been missing in some of their poor losses.
That win deserves credit. Parramatta defended with more resolve, made Manly work for points, and found the key moments late. But it does not completely rewrite their profile. The Eels have been one of the more unreliable teams in the competition this season, especially when asked to back up one impressive performance with another.
The issue against the Roosters is field position. If Parramatta spend too much time coming out of their own end, the pressure will build quickly. Isaiah Iongi and Josh Addo-Carr can generate yardage and strike, but the Eels’ spine still does not have the same level of control as the Roosters, particularly with Mitch Moses out. Pezet gives them a steadier hand but asking him to outmanage Cherry-Evans at Allianz is a major challenge.
There is also a potential letdown angle. Parramatta poured a lot into that Manly win, and now they travel into a matchup where the Roosters will be heavily motivated to win for Tupou’s milestone and stay in the finals hunt. The Eels are dangerous, but still not a side I want to trust against a top-tier roster.
Roosters vs Eels Recent History
The most recent meeting came last season in Round 25, where Parramatta upset the Roosters 30-10 at CommBank Stadium. Before that, the Roosters had controlled the rivalry, winning four in a row, including 38-14 and 28-18 wins in 2024.
Recent results:
• 2025 Round 25: Eels def Roosters 30-10
• 2024 Round 24: Roosters def Eels 38-14
• 2024 Round 15: Roosters def Eels 28-18
• 2023 Round 25: Roosters def Eels 34-12
• 2023 Round 5: Roosters def Eels 28-20
Roosters Still the Better Side by Margin
This is not a bet I want to overstate because Tedesco, Walker, and Robson all being out matters. If they were playing and all the Origin players were fresh, I’d be very comfortable laying this. As it stands, this is a smaller play, but still a play.
My fair number is Roosters -14.5, and the market at -9.5 gives enough room. The Eels were good last week, but the Roosters are a tougher proposition at Allianz. The Roosters have more forward power, a better kicking game, and more ways to create pressure.
The key is patience. Without Tedesco, the Roosters may not be as explosive from the back, so they need to build this through territory rather than highlight plays. That should suit Cherry-Evans. If they force Parramatta into repeated defensive sets, the Eels’ resolve should eventually crack.
Parramatta’s best hope is to keep this messy. If Walker, Pezet and Iongi can generate broken field chances, they can stay within the number. But if this becomes structured football, the Roosters have the clear edge.
The milestone factor for Tupou also matters. Clubs often lift for those games, and the Chooks should be desperate to produce a professional home performance after a stop start season.

Roosters vs Eels Player Prop Bet
Jordan Samrani hasn’t exactly been a try scoring machine this season, however with the Roosters’ left edge having to change with Savala moving to half, I like Samrani to get another this week. And at these odds, he’s worth a crack.
Roosters vs Eels Same Game Multi
Leg 1: Roosters (-10.5) – See best bet.
Leg 2 J Samrani (1+ try) – See above best prop bet.
Leg 3: D Tupou (1+ try) – Daniel Tupou brings up game 300, and I’ve got no doubt the Roosters will want him to celebrate with a try.
