South East Melbourne Phoenix vs Perth Wildcats Prediction & Betting Tips: NBL26 Seeding Qualifier
The Hungry Jack’s NBL26 Finals kick off this Wednesday night with a massive Seeding Qualifier at John Cain Arena. Third-placed South East Melbourne Phoenix host fourth-placed Perth Wildcats at 7:30pm AEDT. Winner goes straight into a best-of-three semi-final series against Adelaide, loser gets the sudden-death Play-In on Saturday.
Phoenix grabbed home court with a 22-11 regular season record and they’ve got one of the league’s most dangerous attacks, averaging 100.7 points a game. Captain Nathan Sobey brings the leadership and scoring punch, while imports Wes Iwundu and Ian Clark give them real perimeter bite and experience. Up front John Brown III and Jordan Hunter (along with DJ Mitchell and Akech Aliir off the bench) control the boards and protect the rim, so they’re built perfectly for this playoff grind.
Perth finished 21-12 and they’re one of the form teams right now, winning 10 of their last 12. Defence is their thing, they only give up 86.1 points a night. Kristian Doolittle is the heart of it all, All-NBL First Team and their MVP, putting up 16.6 points, 7.4 rebounds and doing everything. Dylan Windler knocks down the big shots, Elijah Pepper adds that perimeter spark, and Jo Lual-Acuil brings the size around the rim. They’re 11-5 on the road and have beaten Phoenix in both meetings this season, 107-97 away and 101-93 at home.
The head-to-heads have all been tough, physical games and Perth have had the edge lately. Both sides love to battle for every possession, Phoenix pushing the tempo and attacking the paint, Perth grinding it out in the half-court and hitting those timely threes. This one should be a proper low-scoring scrap.
Perth will roll in full of confidence and they’ve got the recent form against this team, but the Phoenix at home in the Fire Pit bring that extra crowd energy, deeper scoring options and the fact it’s their first-ever Finals game as hosts. I reckon their consistency late in games and the home advantage gets them over the line in a close one.
