Panthers vs Storm Predictions & Tips: NRL Round 24

Flexing their muscles

The Panthers again showed their class, this time outplaying the Knights on the road. Dominating in the first half and jumping to a 26-nil lead, they continued in the second half, eventually winning 48-12. Their power was highlighted by 60% possession, an 88% completion rate, 9.4m per carry, 707 PCM’s and 9 line breaks. They will still want to improve upon their 32 missed tackles moving forward; this team that was once sitting at the bottom of the competition ladder looks like a different side as the Finals approach.

Nothing but class

The Storm hosted the Broncos last week and it was exciting end-to-end action early. Key injuries suffered by their opponents allowed the Storm the opportunity to gain momentum and that is exactly what happened, eventually winning 22-2. The fact that they kept their opponents scoreless is something they can be proud of. With a greater share of possession (55%), they were ill disciplined with the ball (72% completion rate) but covered for this by making 8.9m per carry, 577 PCM’s and 5 line breaks. Their defence was also strong, missing only 25 tackles and not allowing one line break to their opponents.

Stats that matter

These two teams met back in Round 3, with the Storm prevailing 30-24. Ironically, that is their attacking averaged for season 2025. It is tighter defensively, with the Panthers allowing just 18ppg and the Storm 17ppg for the year.

In the past 5 meetings between these two teams, only 1 game has been decided by more than 8 points; a 34-point victory to the Panthers has skewed the average to 11.6 points in this time frame.

Both perform well at this ground. The Panthers have a 54% record here with the Storm slightly better at 55%.

Beware the wounded Storm

The visitors are outsiders for this match and rightly so given they are missing 2 of their first-choice spine players (Hughes & Papenhuyzen). Then again, this is a club which prides itself on performing well when they are underrated. The recent performance of the Panthers, combined with the fact they remain in Sydney, makes them the preferred selection. Interestingly, both teams have shown passages recently whereby they can be considered questionable by their high standards. Winning under such circumstances is exactly what you would expect from them but the energy which goes into achieving that cannot be overlooked. The performance of the Storm last week suggests that this could be a timely loss for them, while the Panthers are to enjoy another week of success. It will not be as easy as that though; they will need to produce consistency over 80 minutes to capture victory. This indicates that the margin of victory will be far closer than the odds initially suggest.

Panthers vs Storm Same Game Multi

Leg 1 = Total points over 40.5 – despite 4 of the past 5 matches between these two sides being decided by less than 12 points, they have been high scoring contests. The Round 3 fixture earlier this season is evidence of that. Fatigue is set to play a factor as these two sides battle it out. That may just free up the attacking space also.

Leg 2 = McLean to score – he has crossed in both of his matches against the Storm. Playing with a high level of confidence, scoring 6 tries in the past 4 weeks, he will again be dangerous in positive attacking position.

Leg 3 = Grant to score – it isn’t so much about what Grant does when others are there; he appears to play his best when the responsibility falls on his shoulders in the absence of others. He is faced with that situation here and he will again be wanting to lead with action.

Scooby's strength is assessing the overall team - what they offer across the field in a match and how the ethos of a club contributes to their success. Momentum also has a major impact on sports, and Scooby likes to explore this, while underpinning his judgement against a solid basis of statistical analysis. When combined with the aforementioned points, it combines for a holistic approach towards betting on rugby league.

Other sports he enjoys include Cricket, Horse Racing and NFL. There is a reason why Scooby ‘clicked’ with BYB from Day 1 - he loves his sport as much as we do.
