Port Adelaide vs Collingwood
Friday | 7:15pm AEDT
Alberton Oval, Adelaide
Port Adelaide had enough of the ball to beat Brisbane last weekend, but two goals from 39 inside 50s tells the story. Too many promising attacks came to nothing, leaving the Power with a frustrating 16-point loss. Abbey Dowrick was again busy with 28 disposals and seven clearances, while Matilda Scholz worked hard in the ruck. Port don't need to change everything, but they do need to give their forwards a better chance with the delivery.
Collingwood look a suitable opponent to get things moving again. The Magpies conceded 80 points against Sydney and remain without Ruby Schleicher and Jordyn Allen in defence. Their inability to sustain pressure across four quarters should give Port opportunities to attack, particularly if Dowrick and Scholz get on top around the ball. The Power were wasteful last week, so covering this line will require better execution. Back at Alberton against a side struggling for confidence, we're backing them to find it.

Port Adelaide -22.5

St Kilda vs Brisbane
Saturday | 1:05pm AEDT
RSEA Park, Melbourne
St Kilda have shown a bit more life over the past fortnight. They beat Collingwood before pushing Fremantle into the final quarter in Matt Brewer's first game in charge. The Saints briefly led that match, but losing clearances 39-22 left them asking too much of their defence. Their effort has improved, although they need to win more of their own ball if they're going to turn these competitive patches into another victory.
Brisbane finally broke their five-game losing streak against Port Adelaide, and the way they did it was encouraging. The Lions won clearances 24-20 and defended superbly, conceding just two goals despite Port's repeated entries. Ally Anderson and Belle Dawes helped turn things around in the middle, while Bre Koenen led a disciplined backline. St Kilda should make them earn it, but Brisbane's experienced players look capable of controlling enough of this game to pull away. We're taking the Lions to cover.

Brisbane -22.5

Geelong vs Fremantle
Saturday | 3:05pm AEDT
GMHBA Stadium, Geelong
Geelong could hardly be travelling better after nine consecutive wins. The Cats beat West Coast by 53 points despite kicking 8.18, winning inside 50s 41-23 and taking 16 marks inside 50 to three. Once their midfield got going, the Eagles had no answer. Jackie Parry's concussion removes an important target this week, but Geelong still have plenty of scoring options and deserve to start clear favourites at home.
Fremantle weren't convincing against St Kilda, but their stoppage work gives them a chance of keeping this closer than the market expects. Mim Strom had 30 hitouts and eight clearances, with Kiara Bowers adding another 11 clearances from her 36 disposals. They won't have things that easy against Geelong, but they have the personnel to compete for first possession and slow the Cats' supply. Freo will need to use the ball better once they win it, but with a 27.5-point start, we're happy to back their midfield to keep them in the contest.
Our AFLW Tip
Fremantle +27.5
$1.90 (1.5 units)
Gold Coast vs Richmond
Saturday | 5:05pm AEDT
People First Stadium, Gold Coast
Gold Coast will feel they let one slip against Adelaide. The Suns had 18 scoring shots to 13 and dominated territory early, but poor finishing left the door open. Adelaide then lifted their pressure and disrupted the Suns' ball movement, ending Gold Coast's six-game winning streak. Returning home should help, although they'll need to be cleaner with the ball and make more of their chances if they're going to put Richmond away comfortably.
There's no dressing up Richmond's 62-point loss to Melbourne, and losing Katie Brennan for the rest of the season makes matters worse. Still, the Tigers were competitive at stoppages during the second quarter when Monique Conti, Ellie McKenzie and Isabel Bacon started getting their hands on the ball. They need that effort for much longer this week. Gold Coast should win, but Richmond don't need to threaten an upset to cover this line. We're taking the start and backing the Tigers to offer more resistance than they did against Melbourne.

Richmond +31.5

Western Bulldogs vs Melbourne
Saturday | 7:15pm AEDT
Mission Whitten Oval, Melbourne
The Bulldogs answered a few questions with their 30-point win over Carlton. That made it five straight victories, and it was their pressure that stood out. Carlton struggled to get out of defence, while Alice Edmonds helped the Dogs finish ten ahead in clearances. Losing Jess Fitzgerald to a hamstring injury hurts, particularly given her ball use, but there was enough in that performance to suggest the Bulldogs can give Melbourne a proper test.
The Demons were excellent against Richmond, kicking 94 points through nine different goalkickers. This should be a much tougher night, with the Dogs better equipped to pressure the ball carrier and compete at stoppages. Kate Hore could return, although she still needs to get through training after her neck injury. Melbourne have plenty of ways to score, but the Bulldogs are playing with confidence and have just beaten another finals contender comfortably. At Mission Whitten Oval, a two-goal start looks worth taking.

Western Bulldogs +12.5

Sydney vs West Coast
Sunday | 12:35pm AEDT
Henson Park, Sydney
Sydney got the response they wanted against Collingwood, winning by 51 points as Chloe Molloy, Cynthia Hamilton and Taylor Smith kicked three goals each. Bringing Caitlin Reid into the ruck allowed Smith to spend more time forward, which made a difference. It was a good afternoon for the Swans, but Collingwood's depleted defence offered limited resistance. The absence of star ruck Ally Morphett remains significant, and Sydney's revised setup faces another test this week.
West Coast were poor against Geelong, managing just one goal in a 53-point defeat. Their kicking let them down and they struggled to find a target going forward. However, before that loss, the Eagles had won four straight and gone down narrowly to Port Adelaide. That form shouldn't be forgotten entirely because they were outclassed by a flying Cats side. Sydney are a more manageable opponent, and we're expecting West Coast to be more competitive around the ball. With better use of their opportunities, the Eagles can stay within this start.
Our AFLW Tip
West Coast +20.5
$1.89 (2.5 units)
North Melbourne vs Adelaide
Sunday | 1:05pm AEDT
North Hobart Oval, Hobart
North Melbourne took a while to shake off Essendon before running out 52-point winners. Ash Riddell had 32 disposals and six clearances, while Tahlia Randall kicked three goals as the Roos eventually took control. Adelaide should offer a tougher challenge after consecutive wins over Richmond and Gold Coast. The Crows still have finals to chase, and last weekend's win over the Suns was a reminder that they can trouble a good side when their pressure and ball movement come together.
Chloe Bown's 25 disposals and nine clearances against Gold Coast were particularly encouraging, giving Ebony Marinoff some valuable help in the middle. They'll need another strong effort against North. Maddi Newman's season-ending knee injury is a setback, but Adelaide have earned a little more respect with their recent performances. We expect the Roos to win, although asking them to beat an improving Crows side by more than six goals is a sizeable task. Adelaide with the start is our pick.
Our AFLW Tip
Adelaide +36.5
$1.90 (1.5 units)
Hawthorn vs Essendon
Sunday | 3:05pm AEDT
Kennedy Community Centre, Dingley Village
Hawthorn will be kicking themselves after letting an important game slip against GWS. The Hawks had more inside 50s and a late chance to win through Aine McDonagh, but walked away with a one-point loss that leaves their finals hopes under pressure. There's little room for another mistake against Essendon. Eliza West's ankle is worth watching given her importance in the midfield, although the club is hopeful she will be available.
Essendon gave North Melbourne some trouble early before the game got away from them in a 52-point loss. Their effort was better than the margin suggests, but sustaining it has been the issue all season. Hawthorn need to lift around the contest and be more careful with their delivery forward than they were against GWS. If they get those things right, they have enough attacking options to make it a difficult afternoon for the Bombers. We're backing the Hawks to respond at home and win by enough to cover.
Our AFLW Tip
Hawthorn -28.5
$1.87 (1 unit)
Carlton vs GWS
Sunday | 5:05pm AEDT
Ikon Park, Melbourne
Carlton were well beaten by the Bulldogs, losing clearances by ten and struggling to move the ball out of defence. Even when they had territory late, they couldn't make it count on the scoreboard. It was a disappointing afternoon after three consecutive wins, and the Blues need to get back to winning the ball and using it with purpose. Giving their forwards cleaner entries would go a long way towards avoiding a repeat of last week's performance.
GWS arrive with some confidence after beating Hawthorn by a point. Alyce Parker kicked three goals and Tilly Lucas-Rodd had 25 disposals, but backing it up away from home is the next challenge. The Giants were beaten by 63 points by Geelong the week before, so there's still plenty to prove about their consistency. Carlton need to show that last week was a poor day rather than the start of a late-season slide. At Ikon Park, we're backing the Blues to get on top and turn that advantage into a comfortable win.
Our AFLW Tip
Carlton -32.5
