West Coast vs Richmond Prediction & Betting Tips: AFL 2026 Round 8
Bounce Back Needed
West Coast were embarrassed by St Kilda last week, losing by 101 points. It was the Eagles second 100+ point loss in the last four weeks and was the fourth time this season that they conceded above 120 points. West Coast have conceded an average 120 points per game through seven rounds, by far the most in the AFL This week presents as a golden opportunity for the Eagles to get back on the winners list, coming up against a depleted and winless Richmond side.
Crisis Worsening
Things keep going from bad to worse for the Tigers, who are now 0-7 and have an injury list that keeps on growing. Sam Lalor’s achilles injury at training on Thursday has the Tigers injury list at 16, in what is becoming a massive issue in Richmond’s rebuild. Richmond’s last six defeats have come by margins of 54, 75, 65, 42, 60 and 68 points and unsurprisingly they have struggled in a lot of key areas of the game. The Tigers rank 18th for points per game, 18th for marks, 18th for disposals, 17th for points against, 16th for tackles and 16th for inside 50’s.
Recent Head to Head History
Richmond have had the better of this matchup, winning six of their last seven games against West Coast. The matchups at Optus Stadium have been more even, a 3-3 ledger between the two sides in the West.
Eagles or Tigers? Here’s our West Coast vs Richmond Tip
Two of the worst clubs in recent years who are in the midst of significant rebuilds, this matchup won’t be one for the ages. Richmond’s form and their injury list is too hard to ignore, with zero wins and six of their seven losses coming in excess of 42 points. The Tigers have conceded 100+ points in five of their last six games, and have conceded scores of 131, 130 and 126 in their last three games. West Coast will get the job done comfortably against a decimated Richmond outfit.

West Coast vs Richmond Prop Bet
The one shining light out West Coast’s embarrassing loss last week was the performance of their first round pick Josh Lindsay. Lindsay recorded a career high 31 disposals against the Saints, building off a solid few weeks where he has recorded 21, 19 and 31 disposals. Richmond have conceded the 16th most disposals in the AFL, so there should be plenty of opportunities for Lindsay to roam off half back.

West Coast vs Richmond Same Game Multi
Josh Lindsay 25+ Disposals: For the reasons listed above, has built nicely into the season. Is also the leading kick in player for the Eagles, taking a team high 31 kick ins this season.
Jayden Short 25+ Disposals: Short returns after missing last week for the birth of his child, and he will be desperately needed on Saturday. Short is averaging 25 disposals per game this season and had 26 disposals in his last game. He has taken the most kick ins for Richmond, which will be an easy avenue for disposals in a struggling side.
Jake Waterman 2+ Goals: After a hot start to the season where he kicked 8 goals in the first three rounds, Waterman hasn’t kicked multiple goals since. Waterman has kicked seven goals across his last two games against Richmond and could be in for a big day against an undermanned Tigers side.
