Toronto Raptors at Cleveland Cavaliers (9:00am AEST)
Cleveland blew out Toronto 126-113 in Game 1 and completely erased the memory of Toronto sweeping them during the regular season. Donovan Mitchell led the way with 32 points on efficient shooting, James Harden added 22 points and 10 assists, and Max Strus dropped 24 off the bench as the Cavs shot 50 percent from three. A dominant third-quarter run exposed Toronto’s struggles in the half-court and poor transition defence.
RJ Barrett scored 24 and Scottie Barnes added 21 for the Raptors, but they looked a step slow once Cleveland got going. With Immanuel Quickley still sidelined by a hamstring injury, Toronto’s backcourt depth is thin. Cleveland’s size and overall talent should let them control the game again at home.

Atlanta Hawks at New York Knicks (10:00am AEST)
The Knicks ground out a 113-102 win over Atlanta in Game 1 at Madison Square Garden. Jalen Brunson scored 28 points with a scorching first quarter, while Karl-Anthony Towns added 25 points, including 19 after halftime. New York’s physical rebounding and defensive pressure wore the Hawks down as the game went on.
Atlanta showed some fight through Jalen Johnson and the main rotation but got almost no help from the bench. The Knicks thrive in this building and did a good job attacking defensive rotations. Expect them to bring the same intensity and protect home court once again.

Minnesota Timberwolves at Denver Nuggets (12:30pm AEST)
Denver shook off a slow start and pulled away for a 116-105 victory over Minnesota in Game 1. Nikola Jokic recorded a triple-double (25 points, 13 rebounds, 11 assists) while Jamal Murray scored 30 points and went a perfect 16-for-16 from the free-throw line. The Nuggets took over with a strong third-quarter surge, using their half-court execution and spacing to create easy opportunities.
Anthony Edwards led the Timberwolves with 22 points but shot just 7-of-19 and Minnesota faded late. Jokic continues to dominate the matchup against Rudy Gobert by drawing him out and opening driving lanes. The altitude and veteran poise at Ball Arena make Denver heavy favourites to go up 2-0.
