Randwick Racing Tips: Saturday, January 3rd 2026
Race 5: Chandon BM78 1500m - 2:55pm (AEDT)
(1) Rolling Magic: This gelding has been sound throughout his past four runs and was rewarded last start when breaking through nicely. He continues to rate well for this assignment, particularly with the 3kg claim bringing him in very attractively at the weights. Profiles as a horse capable of holding his form and building on that last win. Appeals as a genuine each-way value play.
(10) Alabama Fox: Strongly supported last start and again ran well, only finding one better. She has been racing consistently and is sure to have her share of admirers once more. This looks a crucial assignment for her—strip fitter again and ideally placed. At the price, she’ll be expected to measure up.
(1) Rolling Magic E/W
$8.00/$2.20 (1U/3U)
Race 7: Precise Air 1200m BM88 - 4:05pm (AEDT)
(1) Magnatear: Resumes here and looks well weighted with Stanley taking 3kg off. Has a proven affinity for soft track conditions and generally performs well when fresh. Likely to settle into a nice rhythm and be hitting the line. Can make his presence felt at an each-way price.
(3) Cigar Flick: This mare was excellent through the line last start over 1100m, hitting the line strongly after settling back in the field. The step up to 1200m looks ideal off that effort and she will strip fitter second-up. The form out of that race has already been franked, with KNIGHTS SECRET going on to win again on New Year’s Day, which reads very well for her chances here. She draws pole position and gets in nicely with the 3kg claim, which should allow her to settle closer in running and tuck in behind the speed before being presented late. She can be a tricky mare to catch and is yet to place second-up, but if she reproduces anything close to her last-start performance she looms as a genuine winning hope and a major player in this race.
(9) Dollar magic: A very consistent mare who rarely runs a poor race, though she does have a habit of finding one too good. Her latest effort was solid behind the talented Kings Secret and that form holds up well here. Draws into another suitable race and should once again be competitive. In the mix.
(3) Cigar Flick WIN
$4.50 (1.5 Units)
Race 9: Schweppes BM78 1100m- 5:20pm (AEDT)
(2) Hawker Hall: The in-form 4YO who was only narrowly denied by Spywire first-up before bouncing back strongly in BM88 company last start. Has since trialled impressively leading into this and ticks plenty of boxes—proven third-up, handles soft conditions, and draws a lovely gate. Looks set to get every chance and profiles as the major player. Goes very well.
(3) Eye Of The Fire: Roughie of the field who rates nicely with the 1.5kg claim engaged. His best form is more than good enough for a race like this, and if you’re prepared to forgive last campaign and look back to what he produced two preps ago, he comes right into calculations. Boasts a very strong first-up record and is worth including as a blow-out chance.
(2) Hawker Hall WIN
$3.50 (2.5 Units)
