The Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes headlines the afternoon at Flemington on Saturday as Group Racing starts to heat up in the state. Accompanying the feature is the Archer Stakes, Bobbie Lewis and Let’s Elope Stakes which are also Group races. Run at 4:20pm (AEST) and running over the mile, champion mare Via Sistina will go in as odds on favourite. Chris Waller and James McDonald will combine again with last year's Cox Plate winner. Flemington Racing Tips: Saturday, September 13th 2025
Race 1: TAB We’re On 1100m - 12:10 (AEST)
(7) Stolli Bolli is third up and would be at peak fitness now. His 2 runs in from a spell have been very good where he has settled back but stormed home over the concluding stages. Its his second try over the 1100m and a Dry track is a positive.
(19) Verdoux has drawn inside and has never missed a drum when running on a Good track. Blake Shinn stays on and he has placed twice on top previously.
(8) Tonkin may lead this field and he is a winner. First start over this distance and this is one of the toughest races he has been in.
(7) Stolli Bolli WIN
$7.50 (1 Unit)
Race 2: Schweppes Poseidon Stakes 1100m - 12:40pm (AEST)
(1) Devil Knight was 5th at Rosehill on resumption and he should be better second up. Leading jockey James McDonald rides for the first time and from barrier 6 I think he might settle the Hawkes trained colt in around 4th for the settling period of the race. Trialled up well at Canterbury on August 18 (2nd) and that was on a Heavy track. Is proven on Dry ground and he could improve sharply.
(2) Tycoon Star we tipped on here last start and he got the job done for our followers. Stays at 58.5kg and there is no knock on him. A win and a place at Group level last two.
(3) Legacy Bound is a winner first up previously and is 2 from 2 on a Good track. Undefeated and leading jock Mark Zahra has won on top before.
(1) Devil Knight WIN
$4.20 (1.5 Units)
Race 3: Rubaroc Exford Plate 1400m - 1:15pm (AEST)
(1) Vinrock has drawn wide in 11 but is 1 from 1 at Flemington which is why I have gone with him. Didn’t seem to like Caulfield last start when 4th and if he can handle being wide from the 1400m and come into the race nicely with cover, he can win. Zahra has won 3 times on this colt.
(3) Crossbow was scratched last start and the in-form gelding will attract plenty of support in this race. Is fit and has won over the 1400m previously.
(6) West of Swindon has raced and placed in harder races than this. Is double figure odds and he will appreciate Flemington and an extra 200m after running on well last start (4th) at Kembla Grange.
(1) Vinrock WIN
$4.20 (1.5 Units)
Race 4: Cap D’Antibes Stakes 1100m - 1:50pm (AEST)
(12) Signature Scent will settle on pace in this from barrier 18 (straight) and will get her first try on a Dry track. Proven on the Soft tracks but is her first try on Dry ground so i suppose there is a small query there. On August 16 she was 4th at Caulfield in the Group 3 Quizette after leading and she will likely settle in the top couple in this too. Over the 1100m up the straight race tempo will be crucial so she won't want to go too fast.
(14) Akaysha is first up after she ran on well from last and finished 3rd at Scone on May 17. Drops 1.5kg from that race and McNeil goes on.
(4) Inkaruna is first up after a NSW campaign and gets a gear change with the tongue tie going on. Blake Shinn is a key appointment as jockey.
(12) Signature Scent WIN
$6.50 (1 Unit)
Race 5: Tontonan Stakes 1400m - 2:30pm (AEST)
(3) Transatlantic has won 4 races from 9 starts on Good tracks which is a key stat here. Is resuming for the Gollan team he gets to his favourite distance. He is versatile, he can lead or he can take a sit so Blake Shinn will work that out with the stable. Trialled up well on September 1 at Cranbourne behind 2 smart ones.
(8) Gerrigong is a consistent mare and if she gets across from an unfavourable barrier in 14 she can run well. She led and ran well for 4th at Caulfield last start and she is very speedy. First 100m for her is the key.
(6) Pop Award wasn’t disgraced in the Group 3 Cockram last start when 7th (beaten 3L). Likes Good tracks and is one of the fittest horses in the race.
(3) Transatlantic WIN
$6.00 (1 Unit)
Race 6: HKJC World Pool Bobbie Lewis Quality 1200m Group 2 - 3:05pm (AEST)
(2) Airman is resuming and will sprint well fresh in this. He has a good first up record and he is excellent on any surface except rain affected. He is won 5 races over this distance including 1 up the straight and his last start was in a much harder race than this being the Group 1 Canterbury Stakes. Will get back and will be running on over the final 200m.
(4) Arkansaw Kid may need the track softer but is flying according to the stable. His fitter being 3rd up and he was a Group 2 placegetter last start. Flemington helps!
(10) Media World drops 4kg after running 3rd in a Group 3 race at Doomben on June 4. He is lightly raced and will settle on speed for the Snowden camp.
(2) Airman WIN
$9.00 (1 Unit)
Race 7: Lexus Archer Stakes 2500m Group 3 - 3:40pm (AEST)
(3) Sayedaty Sadaty is the fittest horse in the race I reckon so he gets the tick here. He is proven at Flemington and he had a hitout on September 1 at Cranbourne to get him ready for this. There are better horses in the race but I think he will settle in the box seat if he gets across from barrier 12 without any issues.
(4) Revelare has already won 5 races on the Good in his short career. He has won for us twice now in recent weeks and he still isn’t 100 percent fit. Likes Flemington.
(7) Mormona is better on Soft tracks but is good enough to place in this race. He likes Flemington and I think this distance suits.
** Promo Alert: Saturday Super Dabble Flemington Race 7 **

(3) Sayedaty Sadaty WIN
$6.50 (0.5 Units)
Race 8: Crown Makybe Stakes 1600m GROUP 1 - 4:20pm (AEST)
(5) Via Sistina returns to a Dry track after doing recent racing and trials on very Heavy tracks at Sydney. She has won 10 from 15 races on Dry tracks and is the classiest horse in the field. It doesn't really matter where she settles in the run and it does look like there are multiple Group races up for grabs for her this Spring. The Cox Plate and possibly the Melbourne Cup are the targets but this is another gettable Group 1 for Waller.
(1) Mr Brightside has drawn the inside barrier in the small field of 6 and he will likely settle behind the leader in this race. The Hayes team believes he is a genuine winning chance and he has already won 4 races over the mile at Flemington. Stuck on really well for 2nd last start in the Group 1 Memsie and he would have taken further fitness from that.
(6) Aeliana was 2ndd in the Group 1 Winx Stakes at her latest start and would have taken improvement from that effort. All eyes are on The Caulfield Cup and maybe the Cox Plate with this girl but she has won over the mile before and with the right run could upset the favourite in this.
(5) Via Sistina WIN
$1.90 (4 Units)
Race 9: Kirin Ichiban Let’s Elope Stakes 1400m Group 2 - 4:55pm (AEST)
(3) Lazzura settled back but ran on very well to score at Randwick last start and the extra 200m should be to the mares' liking. JMac remains on and Lazzura has shown she is up to the level after mixing it with the best in Sydney during the Autumn. Fangirl beat her by 3.5L two starts back in a Group 1 and 5 months on she would have matured even further and might mix it with the above in a few weeks over the 2000m. Does have to carry an extra 1.5kg compared to her latest start but she looks up to it.
(10) Oh Too Good is resuming and previously when first up ran 3rd at Caulfield over 1200m. Hey gets the services of Damien Lane and despite last starts 8th he has been pretty consistent, he was 8-1 on Thursday and has now been backed into 6-1.
(7) On Display gets weight relief and an inside barrier might be advantageous in this race. I can see him settling around 6th on the rails before looking for the openings late.
(3) Lazzura WIN
$2.40 (3 Units)
Race 10: Ronald McDonald House Charities Trophy 1700m - 5:25pm (AEST)
(4) Globe has a lovely draw in barrier 2 and he almost got there when 2nd at The Valley last start. Is fitter for that run and the on speed gelding should get a nice run in transit. First try over this distance and he may be better on Soft tracks. Small play in the last.
(9) Young Werther is capable at Flemington and capable on Dry ground. Over the odds here I reckon.
(6) Kingswood is first up after a long spell but has been trialing well against some quality types. Has a good first up record.
(4) Globe WIN
$2.80 (2 Units)
