Dolphins vs Knights Predictions & Tips: 2025 NRL Round 16

Are the Dolphins a Legitimate Threat?

The Dolphins put on another cracking performance last week, hammering the Cowboys 58-4, marking their second straight 50+ point victory. In fact, their for and against during the past month (three games), is an astonishing 158 points for, and only 18 points against. It has rocketed the Dolphins into the top 6, and they are currently sporting the second best for and against in the NRL. There were so many stand outs last week, but special praise must come for winger Jack Bostock, the 2024 Rookie of the Year, who ran for over 300 metres, scored four tries, and ran roughshod over the Cowboys defence. It was a crazy performance from the Dolphins, who made 11-line breaks and ran for over 2200 metres. Looking at the teams right now, the Dolphins could be the only side outside the top 4 to seriously push for a place in the Grand Final this season.

Sharpe Returns for Desperate Knights

The Knights come into this week off the back of a dour 4-point loss at home to the Roosters last week, going down 12-8. The Knights were a tad unlucky and were arguably the better team throughout the game. However, they still couldn’t manage to get the two points, and their descent towards the bottom of the ladder continues. Jackson Hastings was back for the Knights, with Fletcher Sharpe out injured and he looked decent steering the team around. He has been dropped this week though, with Sharpe back in the 6. With Ponga playing Origin in Perth and this game set to take place in Perth too, the Knights’ and Maroons’ #1 should be fine to back up. With an incredibly tough run coming up, the Knights desperately need a win here against a team that may be looking past the Knights.

Dolphins vs Knights Recent History

The Dolphins and Knights have met five times in the three seasons the Dolphins have been in the NRL, and the Knights have won four of those contests. One of the matchups happened back in round 2 this season, with the Knights closing 4.5-point home favourites and a total of 45.5. Kalyn Ponga had easily his best game of the season, as he laid on three tries and ran for over 200 metres in the Knights’ 26-12 victory. Quite a lot has changed since the opening month of the season, where the Dolphins lost their opening four games. I won’t be taking anything from this brief history, or the game in round 2 of this season, given the tremendous recent form of the Dolphins.

Dolphins to Destroy Hapless Knights

The Dolphins were mere 5.5-point favourites on the lookahead, and boy did that number change after last weekend’s performance. The Dolphins re-opened as 10.5-point favourites, and money continues to surge in on the Redcliffe based team, who now sit as 11.5-point favourites. I’ve got the Dolphins as 14.5-point favourites, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they put 50 on the Knights this week. The team seems to really have bought in to the new system Head Coach Kristian Woolf has brought in, with the Dolphins currently having the most points in the competition in attack. Whilst the Knights have been relatively stingy in defence, they might struggle to withstand this attack on the weekend. I love the Dolphins to cover and will probably have a few alt-lines at far bigger prices in my bets this week.

Looking at the total, it opened 47.5 and has been bet down to 46.5. My numbers suggest the under is the play here, however given the potent attack of the Dolphins, I’ll steer clear. I would look more towards the Knights’ team total, which is currently set around 16.5. I’d make a fair total for the Knights at 10.5, and really like the under here. Added to my unders take, the Knights have been a heavy unders team all season, with 12 of their 14 matches going under the total, whilst the Dolphins have had 8 of their 14 games go under. The Knights also boast the worst attack in the league, averaging just 13.8 points per game.

Dolphins vs Knights Player Prop Bet: Farnworth Cannot be Stopped

Rinse and repeat. There’s no real analysis here, Farnworth has now scored in eight straight games, and I don’t see the Knights fairing any better. Can still get him north of $2, just keep doubling your money.

Herbie Farnworth (1+ try)

$2.20 (1 unit)

Dolphins vs Knights Same Game Multi

Leg 1: Dolphins (13+) – Seven wins this season for the Dolphins, and they’ve won six of them by a margin of 13+. When they get going, they can’t be stopped.

Leg 2: H Farnworth (1+ try) – As above, Farnworth to score in his ninth straight.

Leg 3: J Isaako (1+ try) – A lot of love around Bostock after his four try performance last week, with Isaako priced slightly longer than his wing partner. Isaako has shown he’s not averse to scoring tries and will get his time to shine this week.

Same Game Multi Odds: $5.00 at Dabble
