Pacers vs Thunder: NBA Finals Game 6 Predictions & Tips
Game 5 Recap
The best team in the NBA showcased their talent at home in Game 5, as the OKC Thunder won 120-109, led by Jalen Williams who dropped 40 points. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander played the support role this time around with 31 points and 10 assists.
On the defensive side, Alex Caruso was at his best, picking the Indiana Pacers’ pockets four times, whilst Cason Wallace also had four steals. It was a great team effort from the Thunder as they pressured the Pacers into 22 turnovers. The Thunder only committed 11 turnovers, as they continue to take care of the basketball.
The big story from Game 5 was Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton not making a single shot from the field on six attempts and now battling a calf strain. Pascal Siakam and T.J. McConnell tried their best to keep in touch throughout the game. McConnell led the third-quarter comeback and surprisingly, didn’t see minutes in the fourth until later in the game.
Thunder Set To Claim NBA Championship! Here’s Our Pacers vs Thunder Tip
The Thunder lead 3-2 in the series and will travel back to Indianapolis with the chance to close out the series and capture their first NBA championship in Oklahoma City: the franchise won the 1979 NBA Finals as the Seattle SuperSonics.
All eyes will be on Haliburton and his status for Game 6. He is currently listed as a game-time decision. He was a non-factor in the previous game and it’s hard to imagine he can produce more of his heroics from earlier in the NBA Playoffs when he may be playing at 80 per cent health or less.
Head coach Rick Carlisle will likely be forced into using McConnell more, so we should see an uptick in his minutes played in this elimination game for the Pacers. McConnell’s quickness has been able to expose gaps in the Thunder’s defence. His third quarter scoring burst in Game 5 was testament to that.
Another area Carlisle needs to exploit is Siakam. With a limited Haliburton presence, the offense firmly sits on the 2019 NBA champion’s shoulders. Siakam often has a distinct height advantage over the Thunder players guarding him. Siakam will need to look to score at least 25 points to give the Pacers any hope of extending the series to a Game 7.
For the Thunder, it looks like a simple gameplan. SGA and Williams will lead the offense, creating their own shots, dishing out to Lu Dort for high-arching three pointers. It will be a defensive-first mindset from this talented defensive unit.
Expect the Thunder to have fewer turnovers than the Pacers and look to get the jump on the home side. Trailing 3-2, any sort of double-figure deficit for the Pacers could spell the beginning of the end, as doubt will quickly creep in. Let’s hope it’s an entertaining and close game, however, I can see the Thunder putting the boot into the Pacers to run away with a dominant victory as they hoist the Larry O’Brien trophy, and deservedly so after an incredible NBA season.

Pacers vs Thunder Same Game Multi
Thunder win: Expecting the OKC Thunder to close out the series and win the NBA Championship.
Pascal Siakam over 20.5 points: With Haliburton not 100 per cent, the offense firmly sits on Siakam’s shoulders once again.
Jalen Williams over 20.5 points: Williams is arguably giving SGA a run for his money for Finals MVP claims. I think SGA will win the trophy, but Williams has helped them land the title.
Tyrese Haliburton under 14.5 points: Haliburton is battling a calf strain and struggled in Game 5. He must be a risk to reach his points mark.
