Geelong vs Brisbane: 2025 AFL Round 15
Purring Into Premiership Contention
The Cats are arguably the form team in the competition at the moment, winning their last five games on the spin to go to 10-4 on the season and move into the top two. Their run home is what dreams are made of as well. After this clash against the Lions, they will have a bye to freshen up, followed by just one of their remaining eight games against current top eight sides. All phases have been playing at an elite level for the Cats, so it’s hard to single anyone out at the moment, but the midfield duo of Max Holmes and Bailey Smith have been particularly dominant, as Holmes recorded the highest rated game of the season against the Bombers on the weekend, racking up 36 touches and 871 metres gained.
From Roaring to Reeling
On the contrary, the Lions started the season in red hot form but have come off the boil slightly in recent weeks. They have lost their last two games, both by close margins to the Crows and Giants, and now have arguably the toughest test in football down at GMHBA. A midfield that is usually dominant struggled to get into the game against GWS, as the Giants had four of the top five disposal getters on the ground. Lachie Neale was gallant with 25 touches and 10 clearances, but ultimately didn’t get enough help from his running mates, with Ashcroft, McCluggage, Berry and Dunkley combining for just 10 clearances.
Big Cats an Endangered Species
Both the Lions and Cats were dealt blows to key defenders on the weekend. Sam De Koning went down with a shoulder injury that is set to keep him out for 4-5 weeks. If there’s one team that can cover in that area though, it’s probably the Cats, with the versatile Mark Blicavs able to move to defence. The Lions saw Jack Payne going down with a season ending knee injury. Fortunately for the Lions, veteran Tom Doedee could return to the line-up for his long awaited Lions debut.
Cats vs Lions? Here’s our Geelong vs Brisbane Tip
On form and conditions, it’s hard to look past the Cats here. They have been near untouchable at home this season, maintaining a 5-1 record there with those five wins coming at an average margin of 49.6 points. The De Koninig injury is a blow but the Cats have been the masters of dealing with team changes over the Chris Scott era, and their depth is really second to none. With stars Smith, Holmes, Dangerfield and Cameron all in fantastic form, I think they cover the 15.5 point line at home on Friday night.

Our Best Player Prop: Max Holmes 30+ Disposals
Holmes catapulted himself into the top 10 rated players in the league with a monster performance against the Bombers on the weekend, the highest rated game of the season. Holmes is averaging 26.5 touches per game this season but has ramped up his accumulating over the past month, surpassing 30 in three of his last four games, including 40 and 36 in his last two. Had 29 against the Lions earlier this year.

Over 166.5 Points - Perfect conditions in Geelong on Friday night for footy should promote a high scoring game here. In the last four games between these two teams, there has been an average of 184.3 points per game.
Max Holmes 25+ Disposals - As we mentioned above, Holmes has gone to another level over the last month, and 25+ seems like a walk in the park for him now. Has had 40 and 36 over the last two weeks and 25+ in five of his last six.
Lachie Neale 25+ Disposals - Another 25 last week in the loss to the Giants makes it 10/14 games with at least 25 this season. Had 28 and 31 against the Cats in two games last year.
