Can the Crows get their attacking game back in order?
Through the first rounds of the season Adelaide kicked scores of 135, 161, 114, 90 and 100 - an insane average of 120 points per game which wasn’t going to continue all season long. However the Crows have dropped off in the last five games averaging only 77 points per game, and kicking one score above 100. Sunday’s game against the worst side in the league provides a golden opportunity to get back to their early season form, and put up a big score.
Can West Coast back it up?
After nine straight losses to start 2025, West Coast broke through for their first win with an upset over St Kilda. West Coast displayed a free flowing brand of football that new coach Andrew McQualter has been trying to instil in his side, kicking a score in excess of 100 points for the first time since Round 22 in 2024. Although it’s unlikely they knock off a top eight side on the road, can West Coast play the brand of football they showed last week and make this game competitive?
The stats that matter
As mentioned earlier, Adelaide are one of the best attacking teams in the AFL averaging 98 points per game, the fourth most in the AFL. Comparatively, West Coast ranks 17th, averaging 70 points per game. The home ground advantage is another big factor in this game, with the Crows holding a 5-1 record at the Adelaide Oval this season, and have kicked over 100 points in four of those six games.
While the Adelaide forwards receive most of the attention, their midfield has been excellent in 2025. The Crows are 1st in the AFL for hardball gets, 1st in post clearance contested possessions, 4th for contested possessions, 5th for ground ball gets and 7th for inside 50’s. Their work at the coalface allows opportunities for their forwards to get to work, and allows their defence to get set behind the ball.
