The week of racing in Australia concludes with a busy Sunday, including some solid programs at Sale and Coffs Harbour. Luke Krahe has previewed some of the key races on the day and provided his suggested bets below!
Horse Racing Tips: Sunday, July 26th
Sale Race 2 - (Market)
(6) Takatoka has been to the races three times and placed at all three of those starts. He debuted at Pakenham at the back-end of the summer, was held-up before the straight then chased hard along the rails into second without ever looking the winner. He was sent to the paddock and resumed at Seymour on the soft track, was forced wide on the turn after settling mid-field, he ran on well into second again against the tempo in a race where it was favourable to be up on the speed. There have been two winners come through that race, he then had three weeks off before his latest. At Moe a fortnight ago, he was having his first go on a heavy track, again only beaten just over a length and sticks here at the mile today. This looks no harder, maps beautifully and Beau Mertens goes back on, he was I the saddle at his debut.
Coffs Harbour Race 1 - (Market)
The "Blinkan Missit” Prelude is well named, an 810m run that will see them fly. (3) Dominant Crown is first-up after more than 6 months on the sidelines, he has a good record fresh with a win and 3 placings from 5 previous fresh starts. This is a little different as it is over such a short trip, he will certainly not be one of the horses trying to lead all the way! That’s where I see his advantage, drawn inside he should just sit perfectly behind the frantic speed, some of these simply won’t come up for air throughout. With the concussion plates off and that good run in transit, I expect that he will arrive in time, just.
Coffs Harbour Race 3 - (Market)
(2) Venusian won his maiden here at his home track before going to the paddock, not only did he break the duck, but he did it with authority. It was over 6 furlongs and after jumping well, he led, kicked away in the straight to win by more than 5 lengths. He was sent to the paddock after getting that first victory, resuming at Grafton over the carnival in a harder race than this and wasn’t beaten far on the sift surface. Back on a rain affected track again and back at home here at Coffs, expect him to jump and run against the older horses and be very hard to catch, especially if he lands on the bunny.
