Today, our esports tipster Michael Lee takes a closer look at two Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) South America Tour 1: Division I matches in Alliance.LATAM vs beastcoast and Thunder Awaken vs Evil Geniuses, and one Counter-Strike: Global Offensive fixture between Evil Geniuses and Heroic at BLAST Premier: Spring Groups 2023

Alliance.LATAM vs beastcoast

DPC SA Tour 1: Div I

Moving regions and changing its Dota 2 lineup has yet to earn Alliance the results they were after, but I wouldn’t say they’re struggling. With a 2-2 record ahead of the final week of the tour, Alliance.LATAM still have a chance to finish the tour in the top two, granted slim.

So far, Alliance have lost against Infinity (0-2) and Keyd Stars (0-2) but also won against Infamous (2-1) and Ravens (2-1). Not the best record, but at least Alliance are beating bottom teams.

Beastcoast are 4-0 with an 8-1 map record, which ties them with Evil Geniuses at the top of the South American standings. They’ve looked incredible over the first two weeks of play and have collected three 2-0 sweeps against Keyd Stars Infinity and Ravens.

The only team that has managed to take a map away from beastcoast is Infamous in the first week, which is slightly concerning given Infamous lack of success this tour. Regardless, despite that minor hiccup, beastcoast are looking solid.

Priced at just 1.14, beastcoast are clear favourites to win on Tuesday, and that sounds about right. But Alliance.LATAM are not to be underestimated. They’ve had some shaky performances, but this stacked roster can do damage. I like Alliance.LATAM with a map advantage at $2.20.

Thunder Awaken vs Evil Geniuses

DPC SA Tour 1: Div I

Thunder Awaken are 3-1 ahead of the final week of DPC South America Tour 1: Division I, which is a good spot to be in. But considering how close the top teams in the region are, Thunder Awaken are not yet in the clear.

So far, Thunder Awaken have already beaten Ravens (2-0), Infinity (2-0), and Infinity (2-1), but they lost against Keyd Stars (1-2) in week 1, which set them back quite a bit. That loss might have prevented Thunder Awaken from finishing the tour in the top two, but they can still make it there if they can avoid dropping another game.

Evil Geniuses have been just as impressive this tour, with three strong performances against Infinity (2-0), Ravens (2-0), and Keyd Stars (2-1) to kick off the new season. But like Thunder Awaken, they have three more games to play in the final week, and they can’t afford to drop a single one.

Bookmakers have Thunder Awaken priced as 3.50 underdogs for this match, which sounds ridiculous. Even though EG have looked better this tour, they’ve not shown enough for me to consider them 1.28 favourites.

Thunder Awaken are a very strong team and definitely good enough to cause problems for Evil Geniuses. They should win at least one map ($1.80), but there’s more value in backing TA to win the series.

Evil Geniuses vs Heroic

BLAST Premier Spring Groups 2023

In the penultimate match of Group A, Evil Geniuses will take on Heroic for a spot in the grand final. The two teams met on Thursday, on the opening day of the tournament when Evil Geniuses caused quite an upset and took down Heroic 2-1.

Evil Geniuses played well that day, but it was primarily Heroic not using their opportunities well, so I don’t see any point in putting too much thought into that result. Heroic have since won against Astralis (2-1), while Evil Geniuses got blasted by Team Vitality in the upper bracket finals and lost 11-16, 1-16.

Heroic might have lost their first meeting with Evil Geniuses, but they’re still the current no.1 team in the world and undeniably a much stronger team. This explains why Heroic are priced at just 1.10 to win, while EG are at 6.50.

At those numbers, it’s fair to consider backing Evil Geniuses with a map handicap (2.37), but unless Heroic blunder again, this should be a very quick and easy sweep for the Danes.
