Esports Betting Tips: Sunday, May 24th

TNC Predator vs Fnatic

ESL One Birmingham 2020 - Online: Southeast Asia

After losing three in a row, TNC Predator will hope they can see more success against their regional rivals Fnatic, who dropped the ball on Saturday and lost to BOOM Esports (1-2). Comparing these two teams, Fnatic are obviously the better team, however, I would not jump to that conclusion just yet. When we talk about matches between two regional rivals, we have to consider that these two rosters faced off countless times before, meaning they know each other well. This is a very crucial piece of information, as neither side will enjoy any form of tactical advantage over the other.

Out of 108 games played between Fnatic and TNC Predator, Fnatic won 63. This puts them at 58.33% win rate over their rivals, which is not particularly high. Through 2020, TNC and Fnatic met four times, with Fnatic winning three matches with an aggregate score of 8-2. Obviously, Fnatic are the stronger team in these meetings, but their performance through ESL One Birmingham was far from perfect. Fnatic looked very sloppy in both of their last two fixtures and while TNC are clearly struggling with their form, they have enough experienced players to punish those mistakes. As I see it, Fnatic should still win, but it would be an easy match. They already lost to Adroit and BOOM, while showed signs of struggle against Reality Rift, so they will likely lose at least one map against TNC.

Geek Fam vs Adroit

ESL One Birmingham 2020 - Online: Southeast Asia

After picking up wins over Reality Rift and TNC, Geek Fam will hope to get back on the horse against Adroit and secure themselves at least a top-four finish, however that task just might be tougher than how it seems. Although Geek Fam put up solid performances throughout the tournament, I still can't see them defeating Adroit. Adroit are a team that has been flying under the radar for too long and have just recently emerged as a very solid SEA Dota2 team. With their win over Fnatic (2-1) on day one, 2-0 win over TNC on day two and a complete stomp against Reality Rift (2-0) on Saturday, Adroit look like very serious contenders for the ESL One Birmingham title.

Adroit and Geek Fam met four times in 2020 and Adroit won three fixtures with an aggregate score of 8-4. Their most recent two meetings came at BTS Pro Series: Southeast Asia, where Adroit won the first match 2-0, but got outmatched in the playoffs, where Geek Fam won 2-1. The match was very close and to be fair, looked more like a fluke win than anything else. Geek Fam are not a bad team and they might surprise us again, but I am not prepared to side against Adroit. Bet on Adroit to win and continue their perfect run through the tournament!

BOOM Esports vs Reality Rift

ESL One Birmingham 2020 - Online: Southeast Asia

Bookmakers really underestimated BOOM Esports when assembling odds for this match. Although they're still priced as favourites, offering $2.13 on a -1.50 map handicap is way too generous. I'm not saying Reality Rift are a terrible team, but I can't find any nice words for them either. Throughout the tournament Reality Rift lost all of their fixtures, all three with a 0-2 score. Losing to Fnatic is not really something I will criticise them for, but Reality Rift should have shown a bit more against Adroit or at least Geek Fam.

When I look at how Reality Rift play, they make way too many sloppy mistakes. They don't know how or where to turn or what to do, which leads me to believe they will need some kind of a miracle to win here, and as far as I know, Christmas is still seven months away. Based on what Reality Rift have shown so far, they will likely add another 0-2 loss to their record.

FURIA vs Chaos

DreamHack Masters Spring 2020 – North America

Chaos got off to a flying start at the DreamHack Master, with a win against Team Liquid (2-1), thanks to an amazing performance from Xeppaa, who came out of the series with 62 frags and 1.32 HLTV rating. Chaos cooled down a bit in their bout with MIBR, who defeated them 2-0, however, it was a close match with Chaos reaching double digits on both maps. Xeppaa was once against the best-performing player of the team with 44 frags and 1.06 HLTV rating. Chaos are also active in the ESEA MDL Season 34 North America, where they have lost only two matches out of nine played against Swedish Canadians and Keep the Comms Up.

FURIA are entering this match with two wins in their hands, which they earned against MIBR and Team Liquid. They won the Brazilian derby 2-0 without any serious problems and while MIBR managed to reach double digits on both maps, I would not count that as an accomplishment, since these two teams play each other very frequently and they usually produce close matches. As for their match against TL, FURIA had to produce a comeback after suffering a 9-16 loss on Vertigo. The remaining two maps were extremely close, however it was the Brazilians who proved to be the stronger team.

Although Chaos defeated TL, they looked only average in their loss against MIBR, which is not very promising since MIBR recently made a roster change and are still in the process of adapting to the new roster. FURIA are definitely the stronger side and, on top of that, they are in great shape. Chaos might have picked up an upset win against TL, but I don't see them standing a chance against FURIA, who should have no problems coming out of this match with an easy 2-0 victory!
