FunPlus Phoenix vs Weibo Gaming
LPL 2023 Spring
FunPlus Phoenix have not shown anything convincing this year, as they enter Week 4 of LPL 2023 Spring with a 1-2 record. They started the season with back-to-back defeats against Team WE (1-2) and Bilibili Gaming (1-2) and finally secured their first victory on Friday when FPX defeated Ultra Prime (2-1).
Weibo Gaming are in a similar position, with a 1-1 record. They’ve so far won against Top Esports (2-1) but lost against BIlibili Gaming (1-2), which are very interesting results. Beating TES only to lose against BIlibili Gaming doesn’t make much sense, but most early-season games in the LPL don’t. So I won’t overreact to what I’ve seen from the teams over the first three weeks of the season.
Weibo Gaming are massive favourites to win this match, priced at just 1.14, which is not an overreaction. This is one of the most stacked squads in the league, whereas FunPlus Phoenix are just a shadow of their former selves and a mid-table team at best.
But considering how shaky Weibo Gaming have been so far, I’m not counting out the possibility of this being a close match. FunPlus Phoenix can only win or be competitive if Weibo Gaming fumble, and I’ve seen enough iffy showings from Weibo to believe that this is a realistic possibility.

Anyone’s Legend vs JD Gaming
LPL 2023 Spring
Anyone’s Legend are 9.00 underdogs for this match, and that’s not as crazy of a number as it may sound. JD Gaming are potentially not only the strongest team in the LPL, but if they reach their ceiling, this might be the best team in the world.
While I wouldn’t call Anyone’s Legend the weakest team in the world by any stretch, they’re the weakest in the Chinese LoL league. With a 0-4 record and 2-8 in maps, Anyone’s Legend have not shown anything that would make me excited about them.
Their only two map victories came against Ultra Prime and LGD Gaming, who are bottom-tier teams, and that tells a lot about how weak Anyone’s Legend are. There’s not much to analyse and no reason to look for reasons to bet against JD Gaming.
Taking JD Gaming to cover a 10.5-kill handicap seems a bit too bold, not because they can’t do it, but mainly because I don’t believe this match will run long enough for JD Gaming to have a chance to collect so many kills. Instead, I like under 24.5 kills at 1.83.

Fnatic vs SK Gaming
LEC 2023 Winter
Monday marks the final day of the LoL EMEA Championship (LEC) 2023 Winter split, and it doesn’t look too good for Fnatic, who have shown us one of the team’s worst starts to the split. By winning just two of their first seven games, Fnatic have turned from potential LEC title candidates to one of the weakest squads in the league.
Perhaps it’s better to say that Fnatic are just not playing well rather than them being weak since there’s enough talent on the team to compete for the top spots. But either way, things are looking very bleak.
SK Gaming, who were billed as one of the bottom feeders, have exceeded expectations and locked themselves in for the playoffs. I can’t say that SK didn’t deserve it, but it mostly had to do with other teams underperforming rather than SK playing well.
Esports bookmakers have SK Gaming priced as 1.90 underdogs and Fnatic as 1.80 favourites, which looks right, but it isn’t. As much as you can criticise Fnatic for their performances, they’re still individually stronger than most other teams in the league, including SK.
I’m taking Fnatic any day of the week at the offered odds. They’ve not impressed me with their performances, but it’s tough to bet against such a stacked roster.
