Eels vs Storm Predictions & Tips: NRL Round 22
A gritty victory
The rebuild at the Eels is heading in the right direction, further supported by their 22-20 road victory over the Broncos. Given little chance of winning, they were spirited and were close to their opponents in the match. They demonstrated patience with 51% possession and an 86% completion rate helping them at key stages. It meant they were able to overcome their 7.5m per carry and 40 tackles that threatened to disrupt their momentum. It is a great sign of what is to come for the Eels.
Storm make another statement
The Storm had no right to win 34-30 over the Roosters on the road last week but produced a stunning performance to capture victory. Missing 2 players in their spine and then Hughes during the match, the Storm had to lift to another level. Trailing 18-16 at HT, there was a real chance that they could lose the match. Thankfully, an 85% completion rate helped them with their 49% possession and 8.3m per carry, while only making 3 line breaks. Conceding 30 points isn’t ideal either, especially after they missed 44 tackles and will be an area they aim to improve upon in coming weeks.
Stats that matter
Restructured but still the team to beat
The Storm will be without Hughes (injured – likely a month) and he is replaced at halfback by Wishart. The key positional change is off set by the return of Munster and Papenhuyzen to the Storms starting team. Their inclusion adds some much-needed experience to the lineup. The Eels are unchanged from last week and while they are again expected to be competitive, they will need to lift to another level from last week if they are to cause another upset. The Storm have a 7-day turnaround to aid their cause and traveling back to Sydney will not worry them too much. This is their game to lose, and the odds suggest as much. The recent improvement in the Eels makes the line a tricky decision; if this game is played true to form, the visitors should account for that. It will be tight though early, and the Eels will make their opponents work for the result but eventually, they should pull away from them and win this comfortably.

Eels vs Storm Same Game Multi
Leg 1 = Total points under 47.5 – despite the Storm scoring a minimum of 46 points in 3 of their past 5 matches against the Eels and the average being well above this, the predicted wet weather in Sydney could make it challenging for both teams to score points.
Leg 2 = Grant to score – he was pivotal in getting his team over the line last week and will again be heavily involved. Known to take an opportunity when presented with one, he has scored 7 tries in the past 5 matches against the Eels, 3 of which have come in games at this venue.
Leg 3 = Papenhuyzen to score – a noted threat in a variety of settings, Papenhuyzen can pop up anywhere on the field. After a few weeks absent with injury, you can bet that he will want to return to this game with a clinical performance.
