NFL Week One free pick: Baltimore Ravens at Denver Broncos

September 5th 2013, 10:11pm, By: Johnny Houston

NFL WEEK 1: Baltimore Ravens at Denver Broncos -  Sports Authority Field @ Mile High, Denver
When: Friday, September 6th at 10.30am AEST

The NFL is back!

Last year's Superbowl champs the Baltimore Ravens head to Denver to battle the Broncos for the NFL opener. This game is just screaming... REVENGE.

The general consensus in America seems to be "how lucky the Ravens got"  beating Denver in the divisional playoff game then beating San Fracisco. It was one of those "meant to be" sport moments. This season looks much tougher for the Ravens. They have lost some all-time greats on both offense and defense. That includes the heart and soul of Baltimore in Ray Lewis. Ravens do however have Joe Flacco (worth every penny in my opinion), but Flacco has lost his two go-to guys in Boldin and Pitta. Ravens also look very weak at both corners on defense. This is not good going up against Peyton Manning.

Denver on the other hand come into ths game with more positives. Peyton Manning looks as dangerous as ever and this season could be his swan song. Denver have also acquired Wes Welker from the Patriots in at slot reciever. Just one more tool for Manning to exploit.

So the question here is, why are the Superbowl champs 7 point underdogs?

- Ravens lost too many key players
- Huge revenge factor
- Home field in Denver
- Broncos adding weapons on offense

Both teams play a fast paced style game. Which would usually push me towards the OVER. But too many question marks hover over Baltimore.

Leaning towards the under 49.0.

Altitude Factor - It's the first game of the season. Players are not match fit. Denver are accustomed to the high altitudes of Mile High. This could be another factor helping the Broncos late in the game. Just in case you needed another reason to jump on Denver.

BET ON : Denver Broncos -7.0 ( 2 UNITS )

Be sure to shop around for best line. If you can grab -6.5 it would definitely be profitable long term.

Take note: The above tip is simply the author’s opinion, so bet at your own risk and always bet responsibly. Happy punting!
