Flemington Racing Tips: Saturday, November 11th 2023

Race 1: Australian Childhood Foundation Trophy - 12:40pm (AEDT)

(9) Watadeel probably got too far back at Caulfield when 4th last start but it was still a good run. He hit the line well and Kah remains with him. He drops 2.5kg in weight for this one and this distance is ideal. Has been set for this,

(7) Sequestered is the likely fav and deserves to be after winning 4 of 9 races to date. He has won 3 from 4 on the Good and another look at the mile should see improvement.

(2) Japanese Emperor drops 3.5kg for this which should help. He has placed over the track& distance previously.

(4) Excelleraton goes well fresh and was really good winning a Stawell trial 2 weeks ago. Hasn’t won in a while but loves Dry tracks.

(9) Watadeel - WIN

$7.50 (1 Unit)

Race 2: Resimax Group Always Welcome Stakes - 1:15pm (AEDT)

(5) Parisal drops back 200m to a trip she enjoys and has always raced well over. She got tired the last 100m last start when 8th at Randwick but before that it was a good 2nd over this distance in a Group 2 at Rosehill. She has won half of her career starts on Dry tracks and she will likely settle in the top 3 in the first half of this race.

(11) Our Last Cash has won 4 from 11 starts on Dry tracks and Williams has won on him in both starts when on top. He loves Flemington and does tick a lot of boxes at double figure odds.

(2) It’sourtime just keeps on racing and is super fit. He was 4th but not too far behind Spacewalk last start and can definitely run a placing. Loves this distance.

(3) Ranges loves this distance but does see Flemington for the first time.

(5) Parsial - WIN

$3 (2 Units)

Race 3: The Amanda Elliott - 1:50pm (AEDT)

*SCRATCHED* (7) Quickster ran on well in the Group 2 Classic at The Valley last start and should be suited by Flemington. She drops back 200m and Egan stays on. It's only her 3rd start but it does look like the Moody&Coleman team have targeted this race. Will be running on strong.

(6) Schwarz came across from NSW and was pretty impressive when 4th at The Valley after being specked in the market. He is speedy, has draw well in 2 and has JMac on. Will get supported again for Snowden.

(12) Alonso has finished top 4 in his last 5 starts and has been backed to win his last couple. Barrier 12 though is a slight concern.

*SCRATCHED* (4) Treasurway has run in some decent races throughout and her career and she goes better than her form reads. Will get back and will be one of the best finishers.

(7) Quickster

SCR

Race 4: Queen Elizabeth Stakes Group 3 - 2:30pm (AEDT)

(2) Duke De Sessa was 9th in the Caulfield Cup and fourth up from a spell. He should be ready to fire now for Maher&Eustace and 2600m looks no issues. He hasn’t won in more than a year but he has races in a lot of quality races too. He will drop out of it early from barrier 2 and try to take off at the 600m. A little rain wouldn’t hurt but that looks unlikely.

(4) Lunacies is a big chance but has drawn a bit wide in 14. He is another who runs on well and has placed in all 3 runs over this distance. If he is not caught 3 wide early, he can win.

(7) Regal Power loves Dry tracks and with quite a few run-on horses in the race will try and settle handy to the speed. She led for a long way in the Moonee Valley Cup when 6th.

(9) Muramasa won the Group 3 Coongy at Caulfield and faces his toughest test here. Has won at Flemington before but his 3 other runs here were just fair.

(2) Duke De Sessa - WIN

$4.80 (1 Unit)

Race 5: TAB Matriarch Stakes Group 2 - 3:10pm (AEDT)

(4) Steinem has trialed up since running 4th in The Coongy at Caulfield and if Muramasa wins the race before, it provides and even better chance for Steinem as he was the winner of that race. Before the Coongy run Steinem was 6th in the Stock Stakes behind Amelia’s Jewell so this race is easier than those 2 i reckon. She has placed over this distance before at Flemington and she is a better and fitter horse now.

(5) Thalassophile is very consistent but has drawn a little wide in 11. Will likely settle midfield and Kerrin McEvoy knows the horse despite never having placed on her previously.

(6) Deny Knowledge is the likely leader but hasn’t placed at this track as yet. Very fit now and Kah rides for the second time so she would know more about the horse.

(7) Papillon Club can be slow out but will be running on. First try over the distance but looks ready for it.

(4) Steinem - E/W

$6.50/$2.40 (1 Unit)

Race 6: Darley Champions Sprint GROUP 1 - 3:50pm (AEDT)

(7) In Secret is the proven track & distance winner and as 2nd fav I am happy to go with him, betting a little more for the place. He won the Coolmore Classic on this track in 2022 and he is 2 from 2 at Flemington. Imperatriz is obviously the one to beat but as long as he runs top 3 in this we will make a little profit. He stormed home from near last in The Everest (4th) and he has had a jog around in a trial in readiness for this event. JMac is on again and it doesn’t matter if its Good or Soft.

(8) Imperatriz is getting out to backable odds and should run top 2. She is Australia’s best sprinter but I want to see a win up the straight before taking even money. She will prefer it Good so it will be interesting to see how much the track is watered on Friday after Oaks Day. She led last start when breaking their hearts and before that she won from well back, so it doesn’t really matter where she settles.

(9) Espiona ran on well to score (a neck) at Randwick last start and I am respecting the Waller stable here. She goes back to 1200m but she is 1 from 1 at Flemington.

(10) Asfoora is up in class and hasn't won over the 1200m but she has to be respected on what she has done for Henry Dwyer and team in 2023.

(7) In Secret - E/W

$4.60/$1.70 (3 Units)

Race 7: Kennedy Champions Mile GROUP 1 - 4:30pm (AEDT)

(1) Mr Brightside is a model of consistency and from barrier 2 he should be able to get a great ride from Willow. He drops back to the mile after being runner-up in the Cox Plate and he has won 10 of 15 races over the trip. He is proven at weight for age and this will top off what has been a magnificent campaign. In the Cox Plate he was 6th at the 400m and stormed home, but from this draw he will settle closer to the speed.

(2) Alligator Blood is another who has had a superb campaign for Gai Waterhouse&Adrian Bott and Flemington probably is his favourite track now. He will settle in the top 2 and try to control the speed and keep going down the Flemington straight.  He was a neck behind Mr Brightside in the Cox Plate (3rd) and he has already won 2 races over this track & distance.

(6) Fangirl was superior in the King Charles at Randwick winning by 2.65L and then was luckless in the Cox Plate when looking for an inside run late. She was 12th at the 600m and was only beaten 1.5L for 7th.

(5) Victoria Road was just okay in the Cox Plate when 9th but was still only 5L behind them. It's his 2nd run in Australia and improvement wouldn’t surprise. Has won 2 races over the mile.

(1) Mr Brightside - WIN

$3.10 (2 Units)

Race 8: TAB Champions Stakes GROUP 1 - 5:10pm (AEDT)

(1) Zaaki has started to return to form this prep and returns to his favourite track. He was 6th in the Cox Plate after drawing wide (12) and he will likely sit in around 3rd position again in this one. He hasn’t won in 6 months but his work at home has been excellent by all reports and he has been in the money 9 of 14 starts over 2000m. Kah knows him very well and has ridden in the top 3 on 7 occasions from 8 rides.

(4) West Wind Blows has Spencer on again and he has never ridden the horse to an unplaced position. He was excellent in the Caulfield cup, beaten a head and deserves to be favourite.

(9) Duais was unlucky in the Cox Plate (4th) and is flying really. He hasn't won in a year and half and some are suggesting he is a non-winner but he has won 7 from 31 starts which is pretty good considering he generally runs in Group and Listed races.

(10) Atishu will get back a bit and it will be hard to take lengths of some of these clay horses. She's up in distance but she has won twice over 2000m. Will be running on and is a big chance to run a placing.

(1) Zaaki - E/W

$6.50/$2.40 (1 Unit)

Race 9: World Horse Racing Grand Handicap - 5:50pm (AEDT)

(10) Rey Magnerio was backed to win at Sale last start and did. He is very consistent and on Dry ground can give this a big shake. On September 24 he was beaten less than a length when 2nd at this track (3rd) and that run will help his second look at the place.

(9) Kin goes well fresh and is first up here. JMac and Cumming combine again and you wouldn’t put it past them to win the last race of the Flemington carnival. Drawn wide in 15 but that might be the place to be by then.

(11) River Noire returns to a higher grade after almost getting there at Sale. Confidence might be back up.

(13) Mornington Glory has won 2 from 4 om Good tracks and has won twice over the distance.

(10) Rey Magnerio - WIN

$4.40 (2 Units)
