Carlton vs Gold Coast Prediction & Betting Tips: AFL 2025 Round 22

Blues Back Voss

Carlton will head into their clash with the Suns with some rare stability, after the club's board emphatically backed Michael Voss to continue as coach. The decision came despite a horror run of results that has seen the Blues lose six of their last seven matches, tumbling down the ladder after a somewhat promising start to the year. Their most recent defeat was a 27-point loss to Fremantle in Perth last weekend. However, there were some positive signs to take from that performance, particularly in the first half where their pressure and intensity were at a season-high, allowing them to build a significant lead before being overrun.

Suns on the Verge of History

The Gold Coast Suns are flying. Damien Hardwick's side is on the verge of securing a historic maiden finals berth and is even firming as a genuine top-four contender. They have been in formidable form, winning five of their last six games. Their last two weeks have been particularly impressive, backing up a stirring QClash victory over the Lions with an 84-point demolition of Richmond at home. With a powerful midfield and a potent forward line, the Suns are playing with a confidence and maturity that suggests they are ready to make a real impact in September.

Recent History

History in this match-up favours the Blues, who have won the past three encounters between the two sides. Their most recent victory was a 29-point win at Marvel Stadium in May of last year. However, the fortunes of these two clubs have shifted dramatically since then. The Suns have evolved into a finals-bound outfit, while the Blues have regressed. Consequently, Gold Coast will enter this match as the heavy favourites, a tag they have rarely held against Carlton.

Suns by How Many? Here's Our Carlton vs Gold Coast Tip

While the Suns are expected to win, Carlton's promising first-half performance against the Dockers suggests they won't go down without a fight. If the Blues can replicate that intensity and pressure for four quarters, they have the talent to push the Suns. However, with so much on the line for Gold Coast, expect their class and desperation to see them pull away in the second half. The tip is for the Suns to get the job done in a competitive contest, winning by a margin of 1-39 points.

Carlton vs Gold Coast Prop Bet

Our Best Player Prop Bet: Humphrey 2+ Goals

Bailey Humphrey has put together a strong year and has had a particularly strong back half of the season. He’s kicked goals in seven of his last eight matches and has kicked three and three over the past fortnight. He’s clearly in strong form and should get plenty of looks against the Blues who are certainly vulnerable to smaller/medium-sized forwards.

Carlton vs Gold Coast Same Game Multi

Gold Coast to Win: They simply need to tick this one off and I expect them to find a way to secure the four points.

Bailey Humphrey 2+ Goals: See Best Prop Bet above.

Patrick Cripps 25+ Disposals: After a really poor first half of the season by his standards, Cripps has certainly lifted of late. 25+ disposals in four of his last five games and is coming off a monster 36-disposals game against the Dockers last weekend.
