Bulldogs vs Warriors Predictions & Tips: NRL Round 23
Not a wet weather team
Playing in the rain appears to be the Bulldogs Achilles heel as they were again defeated. This time, it was an upset loss to the Tigers. Ambushed in the first half, they trailed 20-4 and could never regain complete momentum as they were defeated 28-14. They were their own worst enemy with mistakes meaning they completed at just 67% with 48% possession. This limited them to just 8.3m per carry, an inferior PCM tally, only 4 line breaks and 30 missed tackles. Perhaps a timely loss to refocus them, it shouldn’t raise any issues, if they can move forward with it quickly.
Spirited but struggling
The Warriors tried hard last week against the Dolphins and considering their horror injury toll, were unlucky to be defeated 20-18. It took a 78th minute try for them to be defeated proving that they are a gritty team. They gave themselves every opportunity with 52% possession and an 83% completion rate. Impressively, the Warriors made 10.1m per carry and 653 PCMs; their defence let them down as they allowed 9 line breaks and missed 46 tackles. This is one area they must be better in moving forward.
Stats that matter
- Despite the Bulldogs winning the past 2 matches over the Warriors, their opponents have won 6 of the past 8 games between these sides. Surprisingly, the Warriors have just a 42% record at this ground compared to the Bulldogs 54%.
- The average margin of victory in the past 5 matches between these two sides is 11 points, with 3 games decided by 12 points or less.
- The Bulldogs are the superior team on both sides of the ball in 2025. They score an average of 23ppg compared to the Warriors 21ppg and conceding just 16ppg while the Warriors allow 20ppg.
Bouncing back to form
Despite the lingering questions surrounding the fitness of their halfback, the Bulldogs should be too strong for the Warriors. While both need to improve from their last match, the strength of the Bulldogs team compared to their opponents swings momentum into their favour. The biggest challenging is finding value in the Bulldogs to win this match. The line on offer appears to be too high when you look at the respective record of each team this season; the omission of Galvin and inclusion of Sexton will only compound the challenge of covering this. The Warriors have built a strong foundation this season and rarely do you see them comprehensively defeated. Coming off a loss, it would be surprising to see that occur. The safe option here is investing in the home side to win by fewer than 2 converted tries. The recent history also supports this option, but such is the uncertainty, it is best to keep your stake low.
